Anyone know any portal astrology or anything that was a tell for ea applicants this year?
I think it was being able to book admitted student day or something like that. If you look on EA thread, you’ll see it.

I think it’s after the site first went down earlier in week of EA release. Maybe day before or day of.

Hey guys ! I have applied with Math as my preferred major. I saw the rankings (US News, QS and whatnot) they all say that Umich is an excellent school for Math. However can anyone please tell me about the general consensus among people / reputation etc? Thank you very much
Math is very hard BTW and they take pride in this. Not sure what your looking for but you will find your peeps at Michigan. What are your peeps? What college experience are you looking for? Look at all the clubs and activities on campus. Do any speak to you? If not, do what my son did and make your own. They will support what you want to do.
I love hard math courses. I am in HS but i’m already done with linear algebra and multi-variable calc. My main requirement is excellent teachers. Ones who make even hard classes seem fun/engaging and interesting. I havent looked at the clubs yet. Will look at it for sure. Which club did your son make? How is the research scene (Undergrad math research etc) ? Are they liberal with research funding ?
Yes to all but as you know funding is in question at every university. Think their like 3rd overall in Research. He started with a Ross business student as a freshman https://www.altrealityinitiative.com/
Everything from concept to t-shirts to major Augmented reality conferences. During the pandemic they had like 1,000, people online for the conference but Microsoft,Ford and many others were more than happy to be involved. I can really go into it on a PM next year when your more serious. They won $15,000 total in grants and had a start up advisor and professors and alumni from Silicon Valley reach out to help. Y-combinator had someone reach in on days of registering it. After this the University started the School of Innovation with a $3 million dollar initiative to make this part of every department. He became an employee and advisor for them. Trust me. Michigan has your back. Just show initiative.
Are the teacher supportive enough to give good rec letters because I want to do a post grad in math (US or abroad) ? Some professors have really bad ratings on “Rate my professor” so i was just wondering about that. Although a majority are good.
Are we allowed to choose classes/prof?
Does Michigan wait for matriculations after Ivy Day and then after adjusting the number announce the RD decisions?
That’d be a logistical nightmare with even a week lead time let alone less than a day.

Yes and Yes. Keep in mind many of the complaints are from poorly prepared students in the large calculus classes meant for engineering majors. On the other handMichigan has a very strong honors math sequence (295 → 296->395->396) which I would recommend for you.

Yes. Agreed. This is a top notch university with some of the best faculty and facilities around. Many of my sons professors were leaders in his field. Also, he did study abroad and no issue with getting what her needed. Many professors knew his first name.

And I’ll add a “yes” too. D18 is in grad school. An outstanding math dept.

They just want to be the last one to release decisions. When i went to school the back bench was highly sought after!

Also, is it possible to get on campus jobs with decent (living) wage? I am not allowed to work off-campus (waiting for Green Card). How much do they ? How much do you need to live in ann arbor ? and is a car required?
So, the portal is still “available” but the cube did show up in an insta post yesterday! This has been a long wait, we were deferred from EA.
