@snowy Are you freaking kidding me? The two comments directly above you answer your question.

Hi. I was wondering whether someone could chance me for the University of Michigan. I applying LSA and my unweighted GPA is 3.79 (4.53 Weighted), but my last two semester in junior year have resulted in a 3.90 and 3.83 respectively and my 1st semester senior year GPA looks to be a 3.95.

I have an ACT Score of 32 (35 E, 33 M, 31 R, 29 S), and also have had several severe illnesses that have cause me to miss 5 weeks of school in junior year and 2 weeks in senior year.

I am in-state and last year I took IB Physics I, IB Bio I, IB/AP Calculus AB, IB English I, IB Spanish 4, IB 20th Century World History. This year I am taking IB Physics II, IB Bio II, IB Chem II, IB English II, IB Spanish 5 and IB Theory of Knowledge.

I am an IB Diploma Candidate, NHS member, Vice-President of the Indo-American Cultural Youth Group, Model UN member, Forensics Team State Champion, 3 year varsity letterman on a tennis team ranked 3 in the state, Science Olympiad, Ball running Manager at Kalamazoo College Tennis Nationals.

Held an internship at a sleep study clinic shadowing a pulmonologist, held an internship at a pharmacy, Botanical Society member, and Chamber String Orchestra Member (played 2nd violin) that received an invitation to the State Festival. I am male and am first-generation American (parents are from India). I have strong teacher and counselor recommendations and applied EA to UM because it is my number one choice! I got the good deferral letter. I had a 29 ACT in Early Action.

@PRS this isn’t the place to ask for chances. This is for people who have been deferred.

I got deferred… I’m just asking for a chance with my new ACT Score I will send in during RD

Well, your chance is better with a 32 than a 29. With the GPA it could go either way. It will come down to whether or not your specifics fit the mix they are looking for.

hey just so everyone knows, decisions are rolling for RD. For all we know, we could start hearing later this month.

also, i got deffered, but there is no “view decision” tab on my WA… is that the same for all deferrals or can you all view your deferral on WA???

I got deferred from engineering. In that meantime, I took the SAT subjects tests (I only sent ACT scores) and I got a 740 bio and 710 lit. Should I send these? I know they aren’t great but maybe they would help?

Potatoo: I was also deferred and there is no “view decision” tab on my WA (only a link to my application status which does not officially state “deferral.”)
I’m pretty sure this is normal.

Hey- does anyone know the acceptance rate for applicants deferred EA?

@smile There’s no official numbers as far as I know, and any data you could gather from this site doesn’t really represent the population as a whole. CC users are probably more likely to get admitted to any given college, and if we aren’t admitted then we’re less likely to talk about it or participate in discussion.

Should I send in 1st semester grades or wait for mid year?

First semester IS mid-year.

Should I wait for mid-year or do my first quarter grade*?

In that case, yeah I’d wait for mid-year. It’s very unlikely it’ll delay your decision, and it might help your chances.

I’m kinda late on the post but I got deferred from LSA with a 3.5 W (3.3 UW), 30 ACT, 5 AP’s (soph+junior year), and they asked me to send in the my 7th semester grades…currently taking 4 AP’s for senior year

Also, I got the “good” letter and am in-state

Oh how I wish Michigan had ED. Do they know how long I’ve been preparing for this opportunity? I don’t need money, I don’t need housing…I just need an opportunity to show I am Michigan material.

I actually do need money, but I’ll find it…

I am glad that Michigan doesn’t offer ED. It’s just a cheesy way to make top students commit to your school.
