University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

@wannaknow2022 There’s no truth to a wave at 3pms they are at midnight on Friday’s. There are sporadic admissions at any time but waves are Friday’s at midnight.

@JohnGaltIII I couldn’t agree w you more. My son applied to Mich as his number one after Visiting back in October. He loves the school, but it is def a reach for him, even more so after viewing a lot of the stats on here! If he didn’t have a chance, at this point, we would rather have a rejection than a string to keep pulling him along. Ease the pain a bit, but I do support Michigan, if in fact, they are still considering those w lower stats along with all of you geniuses!!! Good luck to all and I know wherever you land you will be a success.

@EthanAz1 I though past waves were Thursday at midnight

@Whitman6838 that’s what I meant

No, my DS got his acceptance during the night into a Saturday morning just last week (the 3rd). I assume it came out at midnight on Friday night but we were all in bed (at least us parents were). I checked the portal early Saturday morning and woke him up when I saw that he suddenly had a decision tab (we were RD). He then got his email later that evening, probably almost twelve hours later. But there were also acceptances the night before (Thursday into Friday), so last wave was over two days. Go back about 25 pages on this thread.

@JohnGaltIII Basically, you don’t like UMich that announces admission earlier than rejection while most other schools do not announce any until after mid March to early April. For sure those got admitted already would welcome UMich’s practice. One easy way to make UMich like other school is that you should not check this forum or WA until early April or when they send you the email. What is killing you is by knowing other’s admission.

My son’s #1 choice is UofM but with all of this wait he has opened his eyes to other schools who can offer him what wants. He only checking WA on Fridays with hopes of still getting in, at least now a solid #2 that is offering good scholarship. Hang in there all, hopefully we’ll get some answers soon…

Is someone going to call the university to ask when the next waves are occurring?

@billcsho I do not have a major issue with the way Michigan does things. Like I said, I am sure they have a lot on their plate. I was thinking out loud about issues that raise stress with this process and what would lessen than in any way. My problem is more at the high school level where college counselors should be able to help students develop smaller more realistic lists of college to which to apply. That is a big driver in the number of applications the better schools have to get through.

Someone should call

Guys I don’t think they’re going to release any more decisions until last week of March or something. They’re might be sporadic Ross/Engineering small waves, but in terms of LSA we shouldn’t really expect anything.

Really hoping we still see some more Engineering decisions before April!

@maizeblue123 For sure there will be. Same for LSA too.

So is 3/23 the next projected wave?

@NSaltzman
that would be my guess

my Counselor said that I shouldn’t be expecting anything until late march

Just curious why would the next wave be in Late March instead of in the following weeks?

Someone told me that u of m had a maximum number of people they could take from each high school. Does anyone know if that’s true?

I was wondering if they typically to take some from every school. The two who got in during EA at my school have decided not to go. I heard this would increase my chances but that’s only if they informed umich that hey weren’t going, right? I was the 3rd highest score (1310), class pres, NHS vice, Japanese NHS pres, 4.1 (but I got my first B+ in AP calc this year but still 4.1), half Chinese and half Caucasian. I’m just trying to get a reality of my odds. I was told I’m compared to those within my school and honestly, I don’t feel that’s true! If I was compared, I would have gotten in??

@Jm4042 My moms coworkers have told her the same thing. According to her coworkers, UofM only accepts a certain number of kids from each high school and the number is predetermined by the average stats of the applicants from the school and the amount of kids that apply from that high school. I’m not sure if it’s true but if it is then I’m not sure how to find out the number for your school.
