University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

On the bright side… Many people that got denied from Wash U and Cornell and Northwestern and Vanderbilt… Got accepted to Michigan… So maybe that’s a good sign? ;

Do we know when Umich is out? A lot of colleges are releasing decisions today.

S got accepted by WUSTL, but still deferred by Umich.

DD applied EA for CoE but got deferred. She got accepted EA from some amazing schools including Georgia Tech but it’s very hard to get excited about any of the others since her heart is set on UM. I hope she hears soon. It’s been a LONG 5 months since she put her application in.

Is ur DD oos

@pachacuti092 Yes. We’re from MA. I know everyone else is anxiously waiting. It’s nice to see how supportive everyone is being towards each other during this deferral process.

@CopterMom33
I’m in state and a lot of ppl from my school got deferred which is strange cuz Michigan takes at least 30% of kids from my school

@pachacuti092 this is also the case for my school. So far only 7 people have been accepted out of the 63 that applied

@pachacuti092 I hope you and your classmates hear the news you’ve been waiting so long for!

This is true for many instate schools. My school is a feeder to MI and this time only a handful got in in EA. I still think there is a big instate wave waiting since I didn’t see that many instate acceptance in Feb 2nd or March 2nd waves.

I have only seen acceptances from CC. I am instate from a public school and district that sends around 400 students every year and haven’t heard of any deferred kids who were accepted this year, but have heard that last year most of the people were accepted second week of March. Not sure what to expect

@pachacuti092 My D’s school also sends over 1/3 of the class to UM each year. There are a lot more deferral than several years ago when I had a closer look at my other daughter’s class. But they had dropped the EA admission rate since then. Many of the deferred ones this year from the same school got accepted in the two rounds of RD already, but it is not clear how many are still pending. Anyway, I would not be surprised if more than half of in state students from any school applied EA got deferred even from a feeder.

Guys, unfortunately, umichadmission twitter posted that all admission decisions are slated to be out by MID-APRIL not APRIL 1ST.

Link to that tweet? I can’t find it on the UM Admissions twitter feed.

admitted to WUSTL too. Gonna probably cross UMich off my list after this whole waiting garbage

Thanks. That’s really late, and I certainly hope they beat that deadline. Starting to wonder if UM simply got overwhelmed this year with the volume…

Are we allowed to be frustrated now?

That’s really big of them. Give all these kids 2 weeks to make a decision on the next 4 years. SMH

Honestly, Michigan’s choice to move everything to mid-April is really quite dumb. 1. How were they able to roll out decisions at the beginning of the month and then suddenly NO MORE? They should have either been rolling them out as they admitted or done every Friday like expected. 2. If they are sending them out mid-April, now kids have two weeks to commit to a school, now knowing that they were accepted or denied. That could definitely change people’s plans. 3. Ivys and incredibly tough schools all send out their decisions around last week of March. Michigan should be trying their hardest to recruit as many kids as they can before an Ivy or high ranking school snatches them up. I just have a feeling that Michigan is going to lose a lot of kids because of this because not only are we done waiting (ESPECIALLY US EA KIDS), but with May 1st coming around sooner than we think, we might want to pick a better or more convenient option.
