University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

If they lose kids then they would pick more up off of the waitlist, making it more beneficial for those who’s dream school is umich

What we know:

  • There was a wave of acceptances on 2/1 (midnight)
  • There was a wave of acceptances on 3/1 (midnight)
  • “View Decision” goes away for some, doesn’t go away for others
  • “View Decision” is only applicable to students that were deferred EA, not RD.
  • SMTD, and STAMPS do not follow the same admittance schedule as LSA COE and other areas
  • Ross acceptance comes after LSA/UM acceptance
  • Notifications happen around 12am EST
  • Emails usually get sent later
  • Wolverine Access/Email notifications are different for everyone
  • There are different deferral letters
  • Normal instate feeder schools are lacking admissions/acceptances

From previous years:

  • More students were admitted and more waves happened at this point
  • Waves were on different dates
  • Some rejections were given out at this time/before

What we don’t know:

  • Any dates that are “for sure” confirmed
  • If rejections received from LSA/COE are real

What we can assume:

  • There will be a huge wave of both waitlist, accept, and deny around 4/1 or mid april

@attendingmaybe I am an EA deferral and I don’t remember ever having the “View Decision” button just a “View Application Status” button that links to a page with the buttons “View Credentials” and “View Application Data”

Many applicants do not have or have ever had the tab and just were notified by email

@attendingmaybe Yea that’s what happened to me; I was just notified by email.

Hi All. I am a NJ mom and I have been stalking this chat for a long while (my son was also deferred), but just recieved some infomration that might be mildly helpful. My sister, who is a college counselor, did a live chat with someone by the name of Shirley Lipsey from admissions. She asked her specifically about the Mid-April tweet. Shirley Lipsey replied–
"Hello, we are informing applicants decisions will be out by early April, there is no set date however.
My sister then asked if decisions would be coming in waves or same day. The woman replied,
“most likely waves but we cannot know for sure because they do not publish that information.”

Not sure exactly what to make of that conversation, but that is verbatim what she said. Hope that sheds some light

Mid-April is crazy, if that is when it actually happens. As stated earlier, how can students do the “admitted student” visit if they only have a few days notice? I know all the in-state people will applaud this, but my OOS DS will most likely not be going here. UCLA with over 110,000 applicants is announcing today. Either poor planning or incompetence is leading to a really bad impression.

Agreed! This waiting is crazy!

That time line has not been changed. There are always some late decisions each year. It is not a sign of delay but rather an official response to avoid trouble. Check out the FAQ answer posted since 2014. There is nothing new. Just calm down.

On the same site they said deferred students will get a decision by early April.

It is their typical response on Twitter when people ask them about admission notice schedule. They also said no admission release on Twitter a few hours before they sent out the admission notice a few years ago.

@attendingmaybe just clarifying: the waves released on 2/1 and 3/1 were ONLY accpetances? No waitlist/ denials?

Any change some decisions would come out today?

*change → chance

Just got rejected to UCSD. lost all my hope…

@Hiddle don’t lose hope. That’s their loss, not yours. You will be a success no matter what.

@smileynan23 Thank you for the kind words!

My son was denied at John Hopkins today too, he’s pretty upset. Hoping for some good news soon.

i also got rejected from Hopkins @bratinahat don’t stress it, JHU’s environment is very competitive and stressful too.

Wisconsin acceptance just gave me some hope and excitement. UMICH needs to come through
