@EthanAz1 YES Jordan Poole!!! :x
Does anyone know when is the decision coming out?
Who knows at this point… I just sent a LOCI lmao
A second LOCI ?
My son sent a second as well, he felt he had nothing to lose at this point. He did get a response within a few days saying that decisions would be out by mid-April.
Have there been any acceptances during the week, or are they just on Fridays?
I had a friend who got accepted at around 10 on a Wednesday a few weeks ago
Was she LSA? CoE?
I know someone who was accepted to SMTD last week on a Tuesday but not lsa or coe
@maizeblue123 she was LSA
This is ridiculous. Michigan was my top choice and I’ve now committed to another school because some RD decisions came out before my deferral decision did. Terrible system, they lost a potential student to it
@jm18271 A deferral means you are an RD applicant. UMich could certainly just release all decisions at once towards the end of this month/early April, but instead they notify many applicants early. I fail to see how this is a negative thing. The University of Michigan is an incredibly competitive school, there’s no need to be upset because some applicants were deemed worthy of admission before you.
Deferral just means you were not accepted in EA. It is now all RD and there is no difference even you were deferred.
@jm18271 just curious. So if Michigan comes out this Friday that you were accepted and financially you could afford to go, are you saying that you wouldn’t accept?
I think the problem is that many students who are applying to college believe that college admissions is a meritocratic system. Those with the best grades, scores and ecs get in. But that is only part of it. College admissions in the highly competitive schools is only partly a merit based system. It also involves best fit, and not the best fit of the student but the best fit for the college. They may need to fill a certain category of student, or they may feel they need more low income or more students from a certain region. This is why college admissions contains a large number of factors that are beyond the students control. I know a National Merit finalist who is still waiting for an answer from University of Michigan. That does not mean the student will not get in, it just means that the school was making its fit choices first. University of Michigan has enough applications to pick and choose who they feel are the best fit for their school. Is this wrong or right? Probably neither, but it goes back to what all the college counselors say, choose multiple schools to apply to that you feel are the best fit. The time to be loyal to the school is after they choose you because then you know you are a fit for them. I tend to not like this but that is the way the game is played.
I don’t know if this is 100% true, I heard it from a family friend, but apparently Umich has already made all of their decisions. I’m not sure why they’re waiting to send out the decisions, but I’m sure there is a reason for it.
Why commit to another college before all decisions are released? You have until May 1.
@johnrh is absolutely right! Apply at 5-8 schools, get accepted at 1-3, pick one and you’re good to go. Over-engineering it more is futile.
Here is another rumor. If you don’t know if this is true, why are you making this accusation? Is your family friend working in the admission office? I don’t see what is “apparent” if you are “not sure”. If they have finished all the reviewing process, the rejections would be rolling out. Stop your totally baseless speculation.
