@collegeplease123 I would say it’s highly unlikely, If you checked your portal and haven’t gotten an email I would guess you won’t be hearing today. your portal would have probably been updated at midnight!
How did u guys check ur decision, is it in the view credentials or app data section?
@manas1997 If you are only seeing “View Application Data” and “View Credentials”, then that means there is no decision for you yet. When it’s ready there will be a third link in the same section that says, “View Decision”. Good luck to you!
@BSM1987 ty!
Hi Hackace and congrats on your acceptance to COE! I applied to COE deferred still waiting…What are your stats?
sorry Hawkace!
I have contacted my regional counselor via email at U michigan with a letter of continued interest and a follow up email. Does anyone think it makes any sense to check in with these admissions counselors at this point in the waiting game?

Just checking WA portal this morning and noticed the “View Decision” option appeared. Received email at 3:15pm EST. EA deferral. Applied mid-October. Accepted today!!! OOS applicant.
i’ve always had the debate whether to go to umich or msu (instate) and this is exactly why msu is now my #1 and has been for a while after i saw michigan’s attitude towards deferred students. the fact that some deferred students hear AFTER people who applied regular decision is outrageous. you have had my app for SIX MONTHS, and cannot make a decision, yet you’ve had someone else’s for 1/2 and it’s an automatic in or out. the tumblr does bother me too with how vague they are in a lot of their responses. i was annoyed earlier in the year with wisconsin madison because i didn’t find out i was accepted until a week before the deadline they gave for EA decisions, but that was still only january!! Umich is having us wait until basically mid-march/early april when some of us applied as early as august! when i applied to msu, i was accepted within a WEEK. i know msu doesn’t have as many applications as umich, but its still a popular big ten school that has had an increasing amount of applications each year and is a pretty great school. it is horrible how msu gets labeled as the “lower” school only because it is in the same state as u of m. as you can tell i’m pretty annoyed of this all lol but i just want my decision already. even though I’ve now been so turned off to the point of i don’t think i would even go if i got in, i still just want to know my decision just so i can be sure on what i want to do. ridiculous I’ve waited 6 months now and i STILL haven’t gotten any word. lol sorry guys its late at night and i need to rant
also what makes me angry is that i wrote a letter of interest right when i was deferred. after a month of not receiving a response from my counselor, i checked in on the umich chat and they said they never received any letter. i waited a month without any letter being seen. i then sent a new one to another email and they finally acknowledged that they got it. honestly I’ve seen some questionable people get accepted in my area and each time i see them post on twitter or anything i get so annoyed and i just don’t understand any of it.
Guys you need to understand that 60 000 apps and essays can’t be reviewed over night. Just forget about the decisions, do your stuff and some day soon you’ll be surprised and will see a nice e-mail.
@DCmoon34 just wondering if you get into BC would you go there or is Mich your first choice either way? What if you get into CSOM at BC but don’t get the preadmit to Ross (which I hear is very very very hard to do). Thanks!
you think after being deferred early action and not receiving any notification after the first couple of waves of acceptances and rejections increases your chances of being accepted?
It sure would be nice to know how many acceptances have gone out so far relative to the same time last year.
@newman22 I viewed it like all of the applicants are the in the first rounds of American Idol (when they’re all in Hollywood on the stages. I really don’t even watch American Idol, so I don’t really know how this comparison came to me btw… lol) BUT, when there are a bunch of contestants and they split them into smaller groups and they send some of the groups home and some of them stay. Like there isn’t a guarantee that all of them well stay, but if there are less to choose from, you’ll have a bigger chance of getting in?getting accepted.
I wonder how many were admitted and how many spots are left? This was our #1 school-do we still hold out hope? After being deferred, not making the last 2 waves, is there still a chance?
Does anyone know if UM is receptive to matching scholarships we receive from other equally or at least close competitive schools?
