University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

Is it actually true that UMich defers everyone that they don’t get a chance to get to for EA? That’s actually complete BS on Umich’s part because we might as well had applied for RD instead of stress out with its 3 writing supplement questions.

Yeah, unfortunately that’s true. People that applied last year were talking about it at the time.

That did happen last year, but the kids who would’ve gotten acceptance through EA heard back by February. It was mainly due to the huge increase in applications versus years past.

So would it be reasonable to hope that that doesn’t happen again this year because they are more prepared for a large amount of apps?

Why do they even promise dec 24th anymore then? why not just say EA will hear back BY end of january?

Cause those kids that they didn’t have time for were technically RD at that point. Listen, that was the first year it’s happened as far as I can tell, so I wouldn’t worry about it happening again.

Watch nothing happen tomorrow, ill be upset if nothing releases

Does anyone have the stats of % deferred, denied and accepted?

Most kids will probably get deferred.

@hpflstdnt mostly no one will be outright rejected

Hi all so I’m just coming to this thread…i don’t think i can take another deferral, already got deferred once :frowning: …I’m sure this is already on here somewhere, but does anyone know the exact release date of decisions? I know its supposed to be by december 24th, but my counselor said it could be earlier…

no one knows the exact date, however in past years they have released the Friday before Christmas. This is why most of us believe we will be getting decisions tomorrow

I’d bet on tomorrow, cause last year it was around this time on a Friday. If they do come out tomorrow, check your email inbox periodically at around 4-5 pm, cause I would guess decisions would start coming out around that time and carry on throughout the night.

thanks! is this the first decision everyone is hearing, or have you guys heard back from anywhere yet?

Michigan is being awfully shady and vague about the date, which is shameful, considering they are a large public university.

I’ve gotten back one acceptance, two deferrals. Excited to hear back, hopefully tomorrow!

I got accepted as a direct admit to Kelley Business at IU, but Umich is my #1!

Accepted to Purdue, OSU, and Rutgers so far. UMich still my #1 tho

I somewhat agree with Objectivistuba said about Michigan is being awfully shady and vague about the date, which is shameful, considering they are a large public university. I don’t know if I agree with those exact words but if applicants have to follow deadlines when not just say the exact date and not by the 24th, what purpose does that serve in the grand scheme of things. it’s actually kind of unprofessional way to handle such an important process for such a prestigious university.

Does UMich read apps in the order they are submitted?
