@carlsandburgsr OHH me too! I got into IU Kelley School two months ago and Ross is my #1 too haha

For example, Case Western and Chicago both receive a fair number of apps, and gave a definite date for their EA decisions at some point. Michigan has released its decisions on a Friday every year in recent history, without giving notice before. I think that that is unnecessary.

Michigan receives way more applicants than Chicago and Case Western, I assure you that

Yes they evaluated their apps ever since the common app opened aug 1st. @pmmywest

only heard from harvard so far…deferred of course…I would love to go to michigan, but i’m afraid they won’t give enough financial aid to someone out of state, and i’d need to get almost a full ride

Chicago gets more than half as many as Michigan. UChi ~30,000, U-M ~45,000

@carlsandburgsr are you serious?

A difference of 15,000 students is quite substantial in my opinion

I wouldn’t say that they are being shameful or anything like that… they said by December 24, and they will come by then. People obsessed over the date for Northwestern ED as well, which was also kind of vague. They promised by December 15, and the past few years it always came out on the Thursday before this date. This year, they did not release them until Monday the 15th. So basically, yes it’s frustrating as applicants to have to wait and not know a specific date, but it’s not really their fault. They’re not breaking any promises, nor are they obligated to tell us an exact date. I’d bank on tomorrow, but they did guarantee a decision by Dec. 24 so it’s not the end of the world if it’s not. Trends can sometimes change.

Also, I did not get in to Northwestern ED which was my dream school, so while a rejection/deferral will sting, I am much more prepared to accept whatever happens! I spent years wanting to go to NU so I thought I’d be more upset, but I actually got over it in less than a day. So to everyone who’s afraid of not hearing good news–don’t worry about it, and stay optimistic. If you don’t hear what you wanted to hear, it really is not as bad as you think. Trust me.

Yeah, I’ve only heard back from U Chicago - Got deferred

But still, it doesn’t excuse negligence regarding notifying students about their decisions.

Yeah, they give your application a rating and after they compile the total amount of EA applicants they go from most qualifying ratings(outstanding) down to good ratings I would assume for acceptances in during EA. I mean cmon guys, there is no way they could read 25k applications in a span of 6 weeks!

Is there a results thread already? Is this said thread?

@carlsandburgsr but then why did they send that email in november where it said that my app is being considered for EA? wouldn’t they send it before nov 1?

I just don’t see how it’s negligence, and I’m as anxious as all of you! Sorry to keep bringing up Northwestern but people would call the office and they would rudely tell us by December 15, we’re not allowed to release the real date. So maybe Michigan is the same.

I received mine a week after I applied so around oct 10. If you applied towards the deadline they got delayed with processing applications which is probably why you received that email late since about 17k applied right around the deadline according to their tumblr I believe.

It’s definitely not a rejection in the case of Michigan, but I’d hate another deferral. All deferral does is perpetuate the stress of waiting.

How is it negligent? They’ve said December 24 and nothing else. It’s just speculation by people that have no idea what they’re talking about that it will come friday. Last year was ridiculous but there’s no need to automatically assume the same thing will happen when there is nothing to suggest that.

Quit being little antsy children and wait a few days for your decision that WILL come. You want to go to one of the best universities in the nation yet you guys are acting like spoiled 5 year olds

I am still confused to why, if the notion that Mich defers EA applicants it did not have a chance to get to evaluate, and still keep the deadline by Dec 24. UVA’s EA deadline is in January, so I don’t understand why Mich doesnt do the same

yeah…agree…and it makes me wonder how i screwed up the application…
