University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

Here in SE Michigan a CoE applicant heard this morning, he goes to my school

Yo stop lying. i called the office and was informed that they haven’t released their decisions yet

Why would you call? You know decisions will be released shortly. There’s no need to annoy them.

I’m not lying lol. I mean he might be, but I don’t think so @chonladoo‌

College of Engineering @Original1‌

I follow this thread (and other similar threads of other schools) on a regular basis. My daughter, the one who has actually applied, has no interest in this and is happy to wait until an email comes or a letter arrives in the mail. I wish I had that kind of patience.

Weird because I just called Michigan and they said that absolutely no decisions have been released yet.

did they say when they think decisions will be released?

I chatted with one of their reps and they said it’s possible to receive it today otherwise you would probably get it tomorrow

You and me both. My kid doesn’t even know decisions may be released today. He says when they come out, they come out.

I got the impression it was going to be before the 24th…but they didn’t say that. It was simply the way they paused. But they were emphatic that none have been released yet. And then less than ten min. later that poster said she got in.

I’m probably getting deferred. If I get rejected later for RD, I’m appealing. Nothing to lose, right?

hmmmm I thought they sent out tons of emails at once. how come we only hear from one person still

Counselors sent out emails at my school to applicants that decisions for my school are coming out today

Ditto here. My son has no idea. When he clicks ‘send’ on an app it’s like he completely loses interest. I, on the other hand, am admittedly a little obsessed with the whole process.

I mentioned to him yesterday that there is talk that Michigan might release results a week earlier than the scheduled date. His response was “when is the scheduled date?”

He will get in. he is a great guy

My S would like UMich. But he would need to help me justify the big difference on the costs between Purdue and UMich. They both are top 10 in engineering.

How does this appeal sound?

Dear Umich admissions,

Thank you for your letter of rejection. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission to the Class of 2019.

This year I have been lucky enough to have received a record number of rejection letters from countless Universities. With such a promising array of opportunities available at such institutions, it is, unfortunately, impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Harvard’s outstanding academic qualifications and extensive experience rejecting as many qualified applicants as possible, I find that that your particular rejection does not meet my standards at this time. As such, I will be offering myself admission to your institution. I look forward to spending our next four years together.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,

Fri612

My kid doesn’t even ask. I think he is in lala land on some other planet about the whole process while my wife is neurotic. My kid says if he doesn’t get in he’ll apply to other schools. Go figure

I’m right there with you, except we are in-state for Illinois. Big price difference.
