…I got deferred.

I’m very confused, since I believe I’m qualified, as I already got accepted into Harvard?

Edit: I’m Indian, so maybe they discriminated against me or something?

I’m very confused, since I believe I’m qualified, as I already got accepted into Harvard?

Edit: I’m Indian, so maybe they discriminated against me or something?

My s school (OOS) got 20 students admitted last year, it seems all had been deferred.

Got accepted from Indiana for pre-pharmacy! My brother just graduated from there, so I think that helped.

Has this happened to anyone? My D applied Regular Decision. We are OOS’ers and her scores weren’t strong enough for EA, yet today we got an email that she has been deferred. Does this make sense? I’m so confused. She did apply very early, like late September, but this is confusing to me. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

@OmgHarvard Exactly. I seriously think they’re deferring almost every single overqualified applicant because they want to either reduce the advantage of EA or are scared that they’ll accept people that will end up going somewhere else. Like, waaatttt?

I got into JHU but can’t get into uMich?

did umich send out all the emails at the same time?

It seems like they deferred almost everyone with an ACT above 32 and SAT above 2150

@OmgHarvard Exactly… They got to keep their acceptance rate down somehow, right? I presume you’ll be matriculating to a certain top-notch private school next year… Correct?

@Dungareedoll Are you sure your D applied RD? If she didn’t apply EA, then I seriously hope that uMich is using wrong databases or something to send emails to the wrong pool of applicants

I seriously am amazed at the amount of deferrals the school gave out this time. I got deferred from CoE SAT: 2240, M2:790, Physics: 790, IB predicted 41/45. Thing is I don’t know if I’m IS or OOS because I currently study abroad and I checked myself as IS but they determined me OOS by default. Don’t think they processed my residency yet lol. Congrats to all those that got in though!

Go Blue!!! Daughter Accepted OOS (CT) 1380, AP scholar, private prep school, sibling attending. Good luck everyone.
