University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

Got accepted!
College of Engineering OOS (Massachusetts)
SAT 2150, GPA: 93/100

Good luck to everyone else!

Mich is playing games with these defers

"Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. " does this mean they basically made a final decision

Y u playin mich?

Attn everyone: don’t forget that U-M cares a lot about extracurriculars and involvement outside of your ACT/SAT and GPA… so if you want to have a comparison between those who were admitted and those who were deferred, I would advise filling out the prescribed template on page 1 of this thread!

Best of luck to everyone!

Deferred OOS
ACT 35 UW 3.7
f this

Deferred. 35 ACT, 4.7 W GPA/3.97 UW. Rank 2/400. Illinois resident, Asian. Endless extracurriculars including president of Model UN, volleyball team 4 years, intern for the county. I’m happy for everyone that was accepted, but can’t help being frustrated that even OOS applicants with stats significantly lower than mine received an acceptance email when I didn’t… SO confused/devastated.

Accepted! OOS but attending HS in Michigan (military family stationed here).
ACT: 30
GPA: 3.96 UW
EC’s: Varsity Cross country, Class President, NHS, unique leadership roles with non profits
8 AP’s: 3, 4, and 5’s for scores
Ethnicity: Asian
School: Public, top 1-2%

Just deferred but that was expected. 32 ACT 3.5 GPA. People at my school who got into wash u and Vanderbilt got deferred. Crazy

Okay how many people with >32 ACT have got in so far

This is fishy…

@jchen97‌ UofM cares a lot more about GPA than it does about test scores.

@trendwolf‌ awesome!

Which letter is positive one? I keep asking thousands of times… haha

Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2015. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2015.

Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080</a> for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.

Sincerely,
