Might be noted (for tracking purposes) but it won’t impact admissions.
Also just to clarify, I am an alum and cared deeply about this last year when my student applied (and is now a Ross freshman).
how do they like Ross?
Cool. My wife was one also when my son applied.
Many students over the last few year’s didn’t get in being legacy. Of course. Many did get in being legacy.
I wouldn’t count on it. Michigan is flooded with top applicants from across the country with elite test scores for Ross.
My student was accepted to Ross without test scores. I believe Ross approaches its small class size with a hollistic review of the application and puts a lot of weight on the portfolio and artifact.
Yes. This ^^^… All types of students go to Ross and Michigan in general.
Was your student in state or out of state?
Michigan says they only require 1 letter of recommendation. Are your students sending more than 1 letter? (I know some schools get annoyed if the student sends in items that were not requested such as extra letters.)
Michigan is all about following their rules. If it says one letter than that is all they need. The counselor for the school usually will send one also and the schools report.
Out of state.
My student loves Michigan. Ross? Could do without some of the attitudes of the students and the eat what you kill attitude, but it was expected.
For teacher recs on the common app for Michigan it shows 1 required, with up to 3 additional. (Plus an optional 2 “other” recs.) Our school sends the recs and if they school accepts 2 teacher recs they always send 2, so my child has 2. There are some schools that will only allow 1, but for all schools that allow 2 they have sent 2.
FWIW, they require only one but allow four on Common App. In my observation, the schools that don’t want more than the minimum requirement limit how many can be submitted via Common App. The fact that Michigan allows for four suggests that submitting more, assuming they are strong and provide unique insights into the student, is within the rules (and isn’t unwelcome).
Well they want 1 and the counselor usually sends one also with a school report.
Here we are again lol. D26 just applied to Michigan for political science and can I just say that was a breeze compared to the Ross portfolio!!
Good Luck

Question. Daughter submitted last night and realized gym (required) was coded as 2nd semester along with art (also required) on the common app. Anyway, gym is actually 1st semester. Her high school transcript shows this. I don’t think this matters and feel it’s not worth bothering admissions over. Thoughts? I suppose we could call and ask.
Hellloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! So nice to see your “name” pop up! Good luck to D26, did she go in for ED? Wishing her all the best, and I am sure she will land exactly where she is supposed to!
She decided on Yale SCEA. Wasn’t ready to ED anywhere. Fingers crossed! Going into round 2 is easy in some ways and intense in other ways. Would def be fun to have one at Wisco and one at Michigan! Hope freshman year is going well for yours!! We are outside of Boston and the kids here love Michigan. Last year there were 12 that got in from her high school and 7 that committed (none for Ross). A ton of kids did ED this year to Michigan. Will be interesting to see!
