Financial aid deadline Dec 15th. Always a good idea to do it early incase there’s issues with the fafsa app etc.

I work at a peer institution, and we plan big announcements with the overriding goal of not attracting negative attention. A lot of people are paying attention to this first ED cycle, and I can’t imagine Michigan wants the headline to be that they ruined Christmas for a bunch of applicants with a Dec. 24 decision release. I would bet that it happens by Dec. 23 (and agree with those who think Dec. 19 is likely).
My son (in state) was admitted last year as EA with two years of Spanish, and one was online. His HS does not have a strong language program and he stuck to courses that he showed his skills and passion.
Without reading the whole thread, when do people expect ED decisions? Consensus still 12/19 Fri at 3pm? I guess that’s what they used for EA in previous years?
No one knows but that’s as good as a guess as any. It’s coming “soon “.
Good luck to all.
This is on Reddit and thought this was clever.
Dear UMich,
Thank you for always being there for me. But let’s be honest, when I applied Early Decision, I wasn’t just applying…I was basically getting down on one knee and asking you to marry me.
You said you needed “a little time to think,” which I respected, but it’s been over two months now. At this point, the guests are seated, the vows are written, and we’re all just standing at the altar waiting. Please, tell us when you’ll finally reveal whether you’re saying “I do.”
Lovingly yours,
Everyone who ED’ed this cycle
So, will EA be a different release date than Early Decision? Anyone know when we can expect Umich EA?

Any updates on decision release dates? My child’s portal color changed yesterday as did many others that I spoke to. Do we think Thursday or Friday this week?
How did the color change? Not sure I know what it looked like before!
I think my sons did too. There was some blue text I think that’s now all black but not for sure.
Maybe this Friday? But who knows. Good luck to all
Anyone have a before and after pic? Seems so early for release!
Could just be regular maintenence they do. Any changes is a good sign it’s coming but would think than next week
Is your school rural? I have heard that it is extremely rare to get into UofM without four years of a foreign language.
My child’s portal color also changed - was blue, now almost black. She applied EA though, not ED.
Wouldn’t it be fun if the EA kids accidentally got swept up in the melee and received their answers too! A mom can dream.
Yes, I do wish EA still came out in December because it could save us some of the RD application fees!
Who told you that?
I would only trust admissions at University of Michigan or your schools Admissions Officer for Michigan.
They might be getting confused what is required and what is recommended. Section C-5 of the common data set states 2 required and 4 for recommended . Many students have reasons for only taking 3 year’s as my son did…
More is better but rigor and GPA count more.

Well he graduated from Okemos, so not rural. But his freshman and sophomore years were rural in northern Michigan. He took Spanish 1 in 8th grade online, Spanish 2 in 9th, and then nothing else. His first HS lacked a strong language program but Okemos definitely had great language classes. He just didn’t pursue that path and it didn’t impact his application thankfully.
