University of New England - UNE early action

Has anyone heard early action from UNE (University of New England)? Their Instagram posted something about decisions “rolling out” now (even though the website says “before the new year”). My son is anxiously awaiting his admission decision and we haven’t heard anything. However on Facebook there are tons of marine bio majors (and others) who have received decisions already.
Anyone out there received anything? Still waiting? They don’t have a portal so we keep thinking an email went to junk mail!

Nothing here yet, and we saw the same socials (and are in Maine, so it doesn’t take long for the mail!) Interesting that marine bio have received, I wonder if they are going out in batches/ by school or major/ etc. (My kid is an art education major which is just a handful of students anyway!)

I’m glad to hear we aren’t alone!
On a “paying for college” Facebook group, I connected with a parent from Mass whose son got an acceptance last Saturday (psych major). So it seems like it isn’t just marine bio (which is what I originally thought).
My son submitted on 10/28 (I think)… wondering if it’s in the order of submission? When did your kid submit?
We keep joking with my son that they must be holding his application so they can find even more scholarship money for him.:woman_shrugging:
Best of luck with the wait! Hope it won’t be much longer.
We are in Chicago - where the mail system is notoriously terrible so I hope there is an email in addition to snail mail … otherwise we may never receive the decision!

We are still waiting too. Does UNE have an applicant portal?

No portal - D24 had emailed her rep and asked on that. I got excited with the “next steps” email, but then it also included info on how to apply.
I read somewhere (and can’t remember where) someone mentioning they got an email and also snail mail - she hasn’t gotten anything yet, but I will report back on how any notification comes once we know!

We are still waiting over here too.
We couldn’t attend the zoom last night. Did anyone attend and did they say anything about those who are still waiting?
I know that admissions has always said before Jan 15 or “by the new year” but their Instagram post on December 4 saying decisions are rolling out really gave a lot of us false hope!

I just watched the first 5 minutes of the “next steps” recording, and they said they are working as quickly as they can to get those decisions out, but they are still coming - still waiting here!

The wait is so hard!
And my poor son has a scare every time they send an email!

DD heard from UNE I about a week or so ago. They sent an email with acceptance; then she received a packet in the mail which included merit info (20K/per year x 4 years renewable scholarship). She applied to the animal behavior program. Good luck to all!

Congrats! My son just received his acceptance email today!
Anxiously awaiting the snail mail package. $20k in merit a year won’t be enough for us to make this really comfortable though so I’m hoping for more. :crossed_fingers::pray:
Animal behavior for my kiddo too!

Wow- no one has the name Faye!! So funny!
Yes - we knew a Saturday email was possible because we had heard about someone getting an email on Saturday Dec 2. My son woke up yesterday and said - ok last chance! For some reason he had it in his head it was either Yesterday or Jan 15.
Keep your head up. Fingers crossed for sometime this week for you!

Any word yet? :pray::crossed_fingers:
We still haven’t received the snail mail package with financials.

Nothing yet! (And I’ve stopped asking, with the two ‘maybes’ from her other schools, we are just going to enjoy Christmas break and if she hears, she hears.)

I get it. Probably best to just forget about it for a while. We have given up on the big envelope now until the new year.
Happy holidays! Hoping for good news in 2024!

Hi! Did you hear anything?
I’m on a paying for college Facebook group and there was someone on there that didn’t receive a decision either and when her daughter emailed admissions this week they said she didn’t select EA so she is in the RD round. (By the way this makes no sense because I asked my son and he said he didn’t check anything special on the common app at all - we just got it in before 11/15).
Anyway wanted to let you know that this happened in case it helps you figure out what happened with your app!
Edited to add that my son did get his blue envelope in the mail after Xmas (it took 10 days to get here after the postmark for some reason!)

Yes, she was rejected! It was a surprising decision because of their overall rate, but a lot of kids from her school had applied (we are in Maine) so maybe that is why? She is fine with it - it was only doable with a waiver, and was not her top choice, but definitely still stung a bit to get her first rejection. I appreciate that they sent it after the holidays. I saw the thin white envelope on my informed delivery email, so spent the day knowing she’d get Not an Acceptance, but I was surprised that it wasn’t a deferral. (I share that for those that come after if they are looking for insight on how it all goes down!)

Oh no! I am so sorry! That is surprising but you’re right that it must be related to her school and how many apply. I am really glad it wasn’t her top choice because that would have been so much harder. It sounds like you all have a great attitude about it but that had to hurt. Ugh!
My older daughter got rejected from her dream school (where she wanted to go from when she was 8 years old) and waitlisted by her second choice. Both schools really were target schools and it made no sense to us. She ended up falling in love with her safety along the way and couldn’t be happier. It all works out. Best of luck to you and your daughter!
