Keep checking - hoping more acceptances are yet to come…sleepless nights for sure.
Got notice today that it might be another week or so.
We received notice of admission a few minutes ago! Applied on 10/25. Received request for additional information 11/27. Good luck and hope everyone is in this batch!
Accepted with scholarship about an hour ago! Applied 10/31, Corrected SRAR twice, finished it 12/4. She is so excited. How do we register for housing?
Woo hoo! Congratulations! Ours received a scholarship as well. I did hear registering for housing asap was important. if anyone has info please share!
ShineyG there is a button t register for housing in the scholarship email
For those admitted, is there a new student portal that my student should be registering for/checking Oregon email within? (That is the process at other schools he has been accepted to). He did set up for the housing portal/deposit - just not sure if we are missing anything a different “to-do” step?
The housing portal is open you don’t need to accept at the school to do the housing - you can pay and get a refund all but $50 if you decide not to go
My OOS son was accepted last Oct, CS major, and received the Summit Scholarship ($12,500 per year). He received an email from UO yesterday with an update to his merit scholarship! I think it’s because his counselor sent his 1st semester senior grades. So for future applicants, keep up your grades in your senior year and UO will notice…
Would you be willing to share stats?
Sure.
Major: Computer Science
Weighted GPA: 4.75
Junior: AP Calc AB (5), AP Phys 1 (4), AP US History (5)
Senior: AP English Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP CS A, AP US Gov, AP Macro
SAT: 1550
Extracurriculars: Game Design Club President (teaching Unity games programming), Orchestra Band, and Jazz Ensemble, took various online programming courses on his own (C, C++, Java, Python, Unity)
Awards: Rensselaer Medal for outstanding work in Match and Science, numerous musicianship awards received from school and in outside competitions
Very worthy, congrats!
Very impressive- congrats to your son!
Congratulations. That’s fantastic! Does your son plan on attending UO?
Not sure yet as he’s waiting on 8 UCs and UW. It all comes down to price. Even with the merit scholarship, it would still cost $42K per year whereas with the UCs (we’re CA in state), it would be between 30 - 36K…
Total cost of attendance at UC’s is about $45,000. Nice thing about Oregon is fixed tuition for years attending.
My older son went to UCLA and we paid only $30K for tuition, school fees, and room/board/dining and cost did not change in all 3 years. He graduated last May. It can be elevated if one includes cost for books, transportation, personal expense and health insurance which is waived since they’re under my insurance.
Just read through the terms of my incoming freshman’s merit scholarship.
Most everything seems reasonable, but I noticed that one of the terms is that a student cannot take classes or earn units from any other college or university after high school. It says: “Do not complete any courses or receive credits from any college (post-secondary) institution after high school graduation”.
I can understand why the university wouldn’t want students taking a ton of credits at other schools and taking the minimum at U of O to save money, but I wish they would allow a small number of students units to be earned elsewhere, in case my student wanted to attend a summer program at another university or do a community college class while home on break, etc. without losing the scholarship.
Have any current statements had problems with this?
Thanks!
EDIT: Some folks on reddit just clarified this for me. They explained that this only applies to taking classes/units the summer between high school graduation and fall of freshman year (because earning a bunch of college credits may cause a student to be considered a transfer student instead of a first-year freshman). There are separate scholarships for transfer students.
Does anyone know if there’s any space left in the admitted student “Duck Days” events?
If you haven’t done so, go into application status portal.
On the right side you should see a box under Upcoming Events, labeled “Admitted Student Portal”. Click on it, and wait for page to load (it takes a while).
That page will have all the current event scheduling listed including Duck Days.
