Can anyone clarify the Pitt Honors email? It seems to ask the student to accept or decline the offer regardless of whether they have decided to attend Pitt yet? The email states, “Accepting Pitt Honors admissions does not equate to paying a tuition deposit, which is a separate process. Your Pitt Honors acceptance simply indicates enthusiasm for the Honors College should you decide to commit to Pitt, which I hope you will choose to do!”
But, when you click to accept the offer you are brought to a new page that states:

I understand that accepting the offer of admission to the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, also known as Pitt Honors, requires a responsibility to meet specific requirements and expectations including:
Submission of the $300 Enrollment Fee on or before May 1st
Full-time attendance at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh campus
Maintaining a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average throughout my undergraduate career
Accepting “terms and conditions” seems to contradict the email which states that accepting Pitt Honors simply indicated enthusiasm for the Honors College should you decide to commit to Pitt? Anyone else confused?

Accepting honors does not lock you into to accepting admission to Pitt. This was answered before. There is a thread devoted to Pitt honors.
@TwoFabKids @KeystoneDad great question!
This means if you accept the honors admission we will hold your spot until May 1, which is our commitment deadline. If you choose not to commit, we will then move on to our waitlist. This simply gives us an indication of how many students are enthusiastic and interested in attending Pitt as honors students.

@hailtopitt1787 thank you. But, the terms and conditions seem to imply that their spot in Pitt Honors is held until May 1 (they need to accept or decline by May 1), unless we are misreading it.
“I am aware that my offer of admission to the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, Pitt Honors, will be forfeited if:
The required $300 Enrollment Fee is not received on or before May 1st
This Honors College Acceptance Form is not submitted on or before May 1st.do they need to accept now in order for their spot to be held until May 1?”
So, would it make sense for a student to accept Pitt Honors before they formally commit?

@TwoFabKids you can wait to accept the offer until May 1, that’s fine. As I said, we are essentially trying to get an idea of how many of the students who were admitted to Pitt Honors are inclined to enroll.

I have a question. Does Pitt factor in Out of State vs In-State for Merit Scholarships.
