Same - my kid has moved on. If he would have been admitted EA, might have been a different story. Hoping all your kids with USC as their first choice get good news soon!
The curious cat in me is imagining the conversations that are happening in the admissions office that influence when they push send - is it that they need to proof the letters once more? Is button pusher out sick? Is it a technical issue? Is it that more declines have come in so there is more space in certain programs and they want to switch a waitlist to admitted status before sending? Not that any of us have the answers â but itâs how my brain passes the time
All good hypothesesâŠguess weâll never know.
Thank you, @Myfamilyof5, for the update on Friday release! It is really nice we wonât be checking all day Wed and Thurs.
OSD here with great stats⊠Kelley school, Ficher and PSU (did not apply bus, as we were told not to)
deferred. and really wants to move on at this point. thing is several kids in her school were awarded close $100,000 merit and have no interest in going and have not withdrawn (??)
unfortunately she would like to go here as of now
This was DSs top choice, but has moved on. He has a lot of great options. I do think the deferral mixed with late RD has an impact. I will never understand this process
agree ~ never
and congrats!! to you & your family and your son!! Iâm sure he will love where he is going!!
Same situation with the same options plus VT. How patient is she? I do think a lot of these kids will get in eventually.
Myfamilyof5, any inside knowledge about when the financial/merit notifications are coming out for those that are already admitted EA etc? Of course they also say midMarch, but from a past year notification date, I am wondering if perhaps those updates may come sooner, as in Firday March 7th? Crossing fingers it will be then intead of truly âMIDâ March.
At this point U South Carolina is doing themselves no favorsâ kids are becoming invested in the schools theyâve heard from. The only schools that can stretch it into mid to late March are upper tier schools, like Ivies, Duke, Wake Forest. Iâm not feeling like South Carolina is going to emerge from this cycle as strong as they could have.
Why wonât those kids give up their spots if they are definitely not going? Perhaps this is why they have late acceptances from the waitlist.
Praying it does.
Can you please elaborate on âtold not toâ - told not to apply to business program?
My older DS is a soph at PSU. It is well known Smeal is a low acceptance rate like 8%. You can still get into the school through the DUS program. This is what he did. There really is no difference. Everyone has to make the grades to get in and you can take the same classes. Your advisor is in DUS instead of Smeal.
My son was told not to apply to Smeal also, but he did and got in EA. Told my son it was worth a shot. People say itâs because itâs tough to get accepted to the main campus if you pick business. The thought is if you pick a major with a higher acceptance rate, it easier to transfer in, you just need to take certain prerequisites and get a B or better, I think.
The Penn St forum is very helpful with some knowledgeable people.
wl for UWisc much better school & wl at UF⊠USC not doing themselves any good as someone mentioned
that was what we were told ~ be it the day before we sent in apps
If Friday is the decision day, then they are very close to UTKâs decision day of next Tuesday. Less time to stand out before the UT acceptances swoop in.
Waitlist at UF this year? UF doesnât WL for EA and they havenât released RD yet.
Itâs probably for sure âbutton pusher out sick!!â hahahahaâŠ
My son was accepted EA into Smeal, we are going to the accepted students day tomorrow, he has been deferred from every school in the south. I am pulling for PSU but for his confidence one acceptance from the SEC would be nice! Iâm starting to wonder if he got into Smeal because so many people went DUS out of caution. Good luck to your son.
