University of Texas--Austin Admissions

Bump! some feedback is appreciated  I am so worried just cuz of my rank, I just want to go to UT for Physics (CNS) even! Aerospace is my first choice tho and congrats! @ClassicalCollegeā€Œ @Joeksterā€Œ and thats what I thought too! not until early march or so

@vs1997 I’m not sure to be honest. I didn’t get an email or anything. Today, I just decided to see if anything had changed and for some reason my password didn’t work so I had to make a new one (turns out that it’s pretty much impossible to meet their standards for a good password). Here are my stats.

SAT I (by section): CR: 730 M: 800 W: 690 Composite: 2220
SAT II (by test): Literature (770), Math 2 (800), Physics (800)
ACT: English: 35 Math: 35 Reading: 35 Science: 35 Composite: 35 - writing: 11
GPA: 4.00 UW, 4.2 W
Rank: 1/63

Basically, good test scores, decent ECs, and frankly, some terrible essays. I put off my application until the last minute so I ended up writing all 3 essays the night it was due.
@joekster Yeah, that’s actually what I thought too, but I guess I got lucky or maybe they just have that as the latest date. I’m not sure. I hope you hear back soon!

@ClassicalCollegeā€Œ That’s pretty crazy! Nice Stats! What do you think about me? I put my stats in a post above

@vs1997 I honestly don’t know. I would personally say that you are a strong applicant regardless of your rank, but I don’t know what the admission office puts emphasis on. I’m not sure how competitive Aero engineering is, but I think you’ll at least have a decent chance. Sorry, I honestly really don’t think I’m the right person to ask. Good luck nonetheless!

@vs1997 also, you have displayed competence in pertinent fields - science and math in particular and that will definitely be helpful, esp. will a good rec letter I would think.

@ClassicalCollegeā€Œ Thanks! good luck! and any other feedback is appreciated friends!

we can openly discuss our woes and worries about this process!

bump!

I am an out of state student and I applied to Moody but have yet to hear back. One kid from my school applied to the film school and got in yesterday. I have a 32 ACT and a 3.89 GPA. Very anxiously awaiting to hear back.

Lets hope it will be soon! @cyclone123ā€Œ i really want it to be this week!

@vs1997 do you know of anyone who has heard back from Moody?

@cyclone123ā€Œ nope not yet, i’ve only heard of acceptances from mccombs, cockrell, and a few natural sci.

@cyclone123 @vs1997 I’m waiting on Moody too! I applied late October. Very nervous. Any predictions when it will come out/ if we will get an email?

@khauldiā€Œ from the trends years past, it seems as if they release decisions by ā€œwavesā€. so the first wave was this past week on friday. and I’m assuming the next one will be during winter break sometime.

I’m OOS- do I just have to wait patiently for the next few months? Or is there a pattern to how they release decisions?

I had no idea they were getting back to people already… how nerve-wracking

@nat97xoā€Œ it just looks like they are choosing OOS and in-state students (but a preference for in-state). I don’t see a correlation between class rank and date of admission notice. It looks like they are letting people know based on when they applied. I had friends who applied early September and one late September and they got accepted into McCombs and Cockrell, respectively (they are not auto). I applied Oct. 13, so hoping to hear over winter break hopefully.

@vs1997ā€Œ thank you so much! i applied on december 1 so i’ll probably have to wait until march I-)

@nat97xoā€Œ no problem! good luck :)

Lol just got into A&M for Aerospace Engineering.

My friend (OOS) just got in during the first wave, and he applied Dec 1. He had a 34 ACT, full IB, straight As, and applied to Liberal Arts I believe. I don’t know if that helps at all! I’m hoping to get in soon… I applied to Moody.
