University of Texas Austin Transfer Financial Aid?

Hi, guys!

I am currently a sophomore at Boston College hoping to transfer into UT Austin’s Moody College of Communication for the Radio-Television-Film major. I get quite a bit of aid from BC (I have about 10k a year in loans), and I’ve read a bunch about the realities of transfer financial aid (or lack-thereof). Does anyone know if UT Austin is as stingy with financial aid for transfers as people make out most colleges to be? Does it make a difference how needy I am?

I’m hoping to have around the same amount of debt after transferring. BC costs 66k a year and it appears online that UT Austin is around 50k. Is there a chance I’ll break even? I realize it all depends on the financial aid office, but if anyone can provide any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

UT has far fewer institutional money (grant money), especially for OOS students. You may expect whatever federal aid you qualify for, but I wouldn’t expect much otherwise, unless RTF has scholarships for transfers.

Are you a Texas resident?

If not, expect very little aid
