University of Tulsa so little known — graduates hired beyond TX and OK

Accepted at TU, and school is great. Even though I plan to do engineering, but I’m not into the most popular and highest rated major, petroleum engineering.

But, it seems few people “know” TU. Would I get a job outside the area…?

Have you seen the Student Outcomes report from 2014? It’s on this page (https://utulsa.edu/campus-life/career-services/) and lists all the companies who recruited on campus and who hired graduates from the class of 2014. The energy industry is highly represented, and many energy companies have headquarters in TX but also have many different offices & operations worldwide. However, there are also a number of non-energy, non-TX/OK firms listed; some of the companies who hired &/or recruited from the College of Engineering & Natural Sciences in 2013-2014 are: ABB, Accenture, Anheuser-Busch, DuPont, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor Co., Garmin, Grant Thornton, Graybar, L-3, Monsanto, Nalco, and the US Govt (CIA, FBI, State Dept).

As to whether you can get a job outside of Oklahoma/Texas, that’s ultimately up to you. If you do well academically, you interview well, and you know what kind of company & industry you want to work for, there’s no reason you can’t land a job.
