University of Washington Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

Yup this works for me as well. There is also a way to see it under “Quick Links” if the button goes away.

Ya this works..Thanks! Seems like definitely some updates happening on the portal…

If you see confirmed tweaks to the portal, this week may get more likely.

The expectation is still a Thurs night just after 8pm. 3/6 or 3/13. But a Friday isn’t out of the question. They have preferred late in the week though (likely in the hope that emotions may cool over a weekend).

My Plan is a way to plan your 4 years. If I remember correctly with our first Husky, she could upload all her community college courses to see transfer equivalencies and see what credits would transfer and what courses she would have left to take. She did it before she was accepted. Nice for in state students taking dual credit.

There isn’t any IG activity yet, which makes me doubt if decisions are coming tomorrow.
Hoping the TikTok post becomes a tell from this year.

Not to Debbie Downer this - but another thing to look for which has not come out yet is UW also usually puts out an admissions presentation to soften up the ground a couple of days before decisions. Number of apps, percent admits, what they look for, why you might know someone with a lower GPA who gets in and you don’t etc…

they posted something on youtube about this. I think it’s coming tomorrow!

Hadn’t seen that on YouTube. Thanks. I don’t know if it’s coming today, tomorrow etc and I don’t know when last year’s was on You Tube vs UW News released it 3/11/24 which was where we saw it last year. I’m sure that’s checkable. 5% or so increase for in-state apps is consistent with birth rate in this class so up a bit but not a ton and about the same overall with OOS. So decision considerations should be pretty consistent from last year which is what I would care most about. No 10-20% app increase like some of these schools have experienced.

Sorry, there is so much misleading spin in that short video again this year. If they were honest, they’d explain how they’ve learned to work around court rulings to achieve their same diversity objectives. Nothing wrong with that. Their presentations to the board (and no, not the “severance” board) make that very clear. It doesn’t mean what they are doing is wrong at all (I think many support their DEI initiatives) but it’s pretty misleading - and especially for those who will be confused and frustrated when they are denied or waitlisted.

But yes, it’s starting to feel more like tomorrow! Best of luck to all!

(but, good or bad… this doesn’t define you!)

Yup, I was shocked that they didn’t have more increase in applications. Still only 17k from Instate, more increase from OOS. Yeah, it’s just my guess that it will come out tomorrow given I saw that presidential scholars were announced already. I did notice that UW updated their admission acceptance rate on their website. It used to 54% for instate but now it’s down to 50 for instate.

Did it say what OOS was?

Yes, 50% average of last 3 years in-state admit rate; majority of which will be first-gen/low-income + unpopular majors + proximity (as stated by some experts here).
I’m quite warmed up to expect a rejection, with all odds stacked against us.

Increase in applications from out-of-state is mostly just driven by the move to the common app. Students just apply to more schools. Most of that was already felt the past two cycles. The real impact is really just to drive the out-of-state yield rates down across the system.

I know it’s almost here but… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMyCa35_mOg&pp=ygUbd2FpdGluZyBpcyB0aGUgaGFyZGVzdCBwYXJ0

Based on the numbers they provide the in-state acceptance rate for non first-gen students is likely in the 38% range. Similar to the overall acceptance rate for out-of-state students.

And not near the 50% in-state acceptance rate they advertise. I think this may be a reasonable way to admit students, but the lack of transparency causes all the confusion.
