University of Washington, UCSB, USC, Emory, and NYU.

Hello everyone! I’m in a bit of a dilemma as my most recent SAT score was not how I hoped it would end up. I have terrible test anxiety, and I cannot afford nevertheless have the time for expensive tutors. I scored significantly lower than what I would hope, and now I’m beginning to think I am no longer competitive for my dream school, University of Washington.

The other schools I have listed are just my general reach schools. If I do not get into any of them I wouldn’t be surprised (although I am hoping my extracurriculars and personal statement somehow make up for the terrible score)

I am an in-state senior and attend a Washington state high school. Here are how my stats look:

Background:
Black (Somali)
Male

Sophomore year I took 8 classes as opposed to the regular 6 class load for a student.

US History

Senior year:
AP Calculus BC
AP Biology
University of Washington English Composition (ENG 131)

Due to my graduation requirement of taking fine arts, I had to take AP Psychology off my course work, however I am currently self-studying the material to take the AP test this spring.

Personal Statement

  • Read over and edited by UW admission counselors
  • Covers important aspects such as diversity and is heavily tailored to the University of Washington
  • Compelling and highlights my struggles of being a queer, immigrant, black, Muslim.

I feel very confident and happy about my personal statement.

With my stats in mind, are my chances of University of Washington completely out the window?

Forgot to mention!
