What majors/ colleges are considered the most competitive?
well they admit by college, but i suppose they need to space out their interests. i’d say CS for L&S.
Everyone can make a doodle right? That’s not a tell of any kind?
Generally any major that is wildly popular (like Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Engineering), has a limited number of available seats (like Nursing), or highly ranked nationally (business schools, creative writing program at Iowa) are the most difficult to get into. Arts and Sciences majors tend to be more of a “normal” level of difficulty for a university.
Wisconsin Business School is highly competitive - especially the limited direct admit spots.
Does anyone applied astronomy major?
This is the email my now UW freshman son got last year on Saturday the 28th at 12:52 am. Around 7 the previous night (Friday the 27th) his friends were all texting that they found their decisions in their portal. So last year: portal update Friday around 7pm (central time), and several hours later, email.
7pm CT?
yep - just edited my post. And if any of you are wondering why the heck I’m on here even tho my son is a UW freshman, it’s because now my second son is waiting on a decision too… ; )
Supper nervous. My daughter is average student with lots of clubs and leadership. Seems like a very difficult school to get admitted. She picked UW because a few schools teaches zoology and Madison Zoology sounds amazing.
Regretting putting business school as 1st choice major if it’s so competitive!
Good luck, young Badgers

Same here. Son has been deferred to all business schools so far he applied to and kids with lower stats admitted to same general school. Ughhh
where did he apply/get not admitted to?
does everyone have two links under e forms? link 1 to financial aid office and link 2 to registrars office?
Yes
I think I saw on here and maybe on the admissions website that if you applied for Bus school and there aren’t enough spots, they will consider you for the general undergraduate business major (whatever that’s called).
I have been accepted to biz schools where I have applied but Wisco seems much more competitive. I think AP Calc helps.
Or for your second choice major. I think it’s either business direct admit, pre-business or second choice major but I could be wrong.
“If you are interested in being considered for a direct entry program, you must indicate that program as your first choice major on your application. Your application will be reviewed for direct entry along with admission to the university as a whole. It is possible to be admitted to the University of Wisconsin–Madison but not be directly admitted to a direct entry program.”
