I see this from the portal astrology for UW Madison last year (2023):
I do see the SOAR Welcome page (my D24 has applied). But it says you are not eligible to apply. Does everyone see it? Not sure what to make of it.
Mine says :
You are not yet eligible to make a SOAR reservation. The most common reasons include:
- You have not yet been admitted into UW-Madison
- You have not yet paid your enrollment deposit to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment in MyUW
- Your enrollment deposit payment has not finished processing (takes 24-48 hours to process)
- For students who deferred their enrollment: Your admission record has not been updated to the upcoming term.
I’m pretty sure this means nothing. Sounds like you would have to not only be accepted, but also pay the deposit before it is accessible.

that’s what mine says also, but it has said that for weeks
i have seen this breakout by HS (in US and outside US) done for the UC system

Historically it’s 7pm CST. I’ve heard the emails may be delayed behind decisions being posted and it’s faster to just check the portal.

My son applied EA and it is his top choice.
He has a 3.86 W, 8 AP classes, mostly B+'s and A-'s. He is applying as a math major, lives in Virginia, and attends a relatively large school. I’m not sure this helps, but he is a POC.
We live far away from his school so he never had the chance to pursue any school-related extracurricular activities.

Thank you! Can you share with us all how the decisions are posted in the portal, if you recall? Does the application status change, is there a notification in the notification center, etc.?
Our son has a 4.1 weighted with lots of rigor and ECs. Test-optional. We consider him a long shot to get a UW acceptance (business/pre-business). Math prob has fewer applicants so that could help.
