University of Wisconsin Madison Class of 2028 Official Thread

Can anyone share the admitted students visit dates? We haven’t heard back yet but will need to scramble and get out there if D is accepted. (Was scheduled for yesterday, flight got cancelled).

There are so many different types of tours, visits, etc for admitted students. I’ve taken a couple screenshots of only some of the main offerings. I hope this helps and good luck to your DD!

Depending on the school or program there are options on those days too for separate offerings as well as housing, financial aid sessions, etc.

I’m not sure what they expect out of state kids to do…we won’t hear a decision until March 22 and then there’s only an April 29 option? Seems strange they don’t offer on campus tours in early or mid April. I guess we have to just go and walk around by ourselves.

Hi! Does anyone know when they will contact those who won a scholarship? Does that generally come along with the final decision?

Wondering this too!

Anyone have any historical data on the number of EA-deferred applicants who are accepted in the Regular Decision round? I realize historical data may no longer be a good predictor, given the meteoric rise in applications, but interested nonetheless.

Would be great to know that answer.

I don’t believe there are any public data on EA-deferred applicants. A few colleges report that kind of data, but I can’t find anything for Wisconsin.

There is a lot of information on enrolled students:

There is also limited information on admits, in addition to their Common Data Set (CDS) submission, like this:

Here’s some interesting stats. In Fall 2022, we know that more students accepted an offer of admission to Wisconsin than expected (aka jump in yield) and almost no one was admitted off the waitlist. For Fall 2023, they adjusted their formula to admit fewer students, but pulled, by some accounts, 100+ off the wait list. However, they ended up with fewer OOS students (maybe by design). There were 4,033 OOS new first-years in Fall 2022 and 3,353 in Fall 2023.

Not an easy wait or decision, but we visited several schools in late Feb for our “mid-winter” break, including UW-Madison still being deferred. We did a General Tour, but I’m sure different and not a tailored as an Admitted Tour.

Hi. Has there been any confirmation on the date of the 22nd versus the 29th? I heard Michigan comes out on the 29th. Curious if Wisconsin will be same date or this Friday. Thanks

No confirmations. Was March 24th last year, widely assumed for Friday the 22nd from everything I’ve seen but :woman_shrugging:

Anyone think it’s odd that the portal hasn’t gone down at all this week? All other portals seem to need time to load decisions a few days before. I thought it would be this Friday, but ….

I think it depends on what portal software a college uses. The Wisconsin portal didn’t go down for EA like Michigan’s did. In fact, I don’t recall seeing any changes, which was why everyone was so focused on SOAR, new student housing, and diagnostics. They were the only straws at which we could grasp.

A Wisconsin student posted on Reddit that mywisco.edu or whatever it is, was down a lot of Monday. Another student said it’s bc decisions are coming out… I took that as a sign.

I guess I should be grateful that the Wisconsin portal is so basic. We will be traveling Friday with no cell service when decisions (hopefully) come out, so my 80 year old father will be manning the portal for us.

They seem to have plugged all those holes.
