I got waitlisted :frowning: Applied for business marketing as an international student, it was my first choice. So confused whether to wait for them until after May or just choose other unis, always wanted to be a Badger

Do waitlisted students have chances of getting king morgridge scholarship?

I mailed them. They are yet to respond to this query. Will share any updates.

Never count on a wait list. Choose another. I’m sorry.

Has anyone seen published results of total applicants, acceptances etc. My daughter is depositing elsewhere but accepted waitlist spot and would still likely choose Wisco if it’s offered May 1.

The waitlist didnt move in 2022 bc of overenrollent…they WL a LOT of students in 2023 and really went deep into the WL; this year should be somewhere in between

Not for Fall 2024 but you can access past years. Someone posted that Wisconsin had over 65,000 applications this year (my apologies, I’ve forgotten who said that). When I started college in 1992 (not at Wisconsin) the number of applications to Wisconsin was 14,000. :flushed:

Wisconsin still has May 1 on many pages on their website, but their main site says that decision day has been moved to May 15. I doubt we’ll see many WL students contacted until then.

I confirm the date is May 15th

I politely disagree with ohboyherewego. I think it’s ok to hope for a waitlist. You just have to commit to a school you were accepted into, probably make a deposit, and wait and see if it happens. I had a daughter who was accepted to a very good school and waitlisted at another she really liked. She committed to the first school, and added herself to the waitlist for the other. She ended up getting selected off the waitlist around April 28th or so, but by then, had a change of heart since she had been focusing on the first school. She ended up declining the wait list offer. But my point is, she got the offer.

So if you want to, no harm in committing, and applying for a waitlist, just to see if it happens.

Hi everyone! I am an int who applied to the K-Morgridge scholarship and was waitlisted. Posting this here for other int waitlisted applicants and future int applicants: I emailed the UW-M recruitment team to ask if waitlisted applicants are also considered for the scholarship and they said that only admitted int students are considered + they are informed by or before the notification date. They also added that altho scholarships are available for transfer students and int students selected from the waitlist, they are not as significant as the KM Scholarship. Hope this helps applicants who cannot afford UW Madison without the scholarship…

PS: 6 int students from over 800 were offered the scholarship! It is crazy competitive but I am happy for them!!!

Reading over this thread has been a little bit shocking. I have a sibling that’s currently going through the application process this year, and I went through it 3 years ago in 2021. I was part of the ‘covid’ class that year, and thought that our round was even more difficult as a result of the ‘covid seniors’ who waited an additional year to apply to colleges. I had good stats for someone who came from oos, but no where near some of the stats that are being listed in this thread. I simply cannot understand how demanding these colleges have become. Wisconsin is a great school. I would consider us borderline elite. However, I feel like we are being treated like an Ivy at this point. Idk how much more you guys can do to get into these top schools and I wish you all the best of luck. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!

Still holding out hope for wait list. (We will also deposit elsewhere). Anyone know if may 1 is best case scenario? Do they ever offer earlier?

Edited to add— answered my own question after some coffee lol

Waitlist offers started on April 27 last year, mostly oos from what was posted. Those kids had til May 4 to reply. Wave two went out on May 5.

I think they will probably start making offers to people on the waitlist after the May 15 decision day deadline.

I’ve heard of other schools offering spots off the waitlist before decision day, but I don’t know if Wisconsin does that.

Edited: apparently they do offer before decision day

I think the Letter said May 1

I wonder if that’s wrong. Their waitlist FAQ even uses this language:

Once we pass the May 1 National College Decision Day and know which admitted students will be attending UW–Madison, we are able to understand how much space remains, if any, in the incoming class. We can then admit students from the wait list to fill any available seats.

There is no May 1 National Decision Day this year thanks to the FAFSA fiasco. :rage:

Good point, ugh. They may have forgotten to update that.

I think they didn’t update it. The sooner we all know the better. I’m secretly holding out as well, I’ll admit it!
Which is why I’m here looking at posts every day

Well, we were original members of the AAU with most of the Ivy League (not all…), Stanford, UChicago, JHU, Michigan, and Cal. That’s pretty elite in my book. Add all the Nobels and Pulitzers – and we have no hardware for discovering vitamins A and B – and yes, UW is elite. Not elite in terms of selectivity, but certainly in terms of academic quality and rep.

I called Wisconsin admissions about decision day dates and waitlist dates. Decision day is currently set for May 15, but that could change. They are sticking by their language in the wait list letter stating that wait list offers start after May 1. They said that doesn’t necessarily mean they will start on May 2.

Based on the admissions officer’s tone of voice when they described it, I got the impression that the May 1 date was a mistake, but since May 15th is still AFTER May 1, they didn’t send out any corrections. Now that I’ve posted this prediction, wait list offers will probably start on May 2 out of spite. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They also said that the waitlist will close before the end of July and when it closes, they will inform everyone who is still on the waitlist.
