University Professors Program (UNI)

Hi! I’m Bing, & I’m from the flat slab of farmland commonly known as Indiana. I’ll be attending BU this fall (!!!); I just wanted to scout out how many other University Professors Program kids are in the forum. I hear there’s only 30 students enrolled per year? BU’s over-all size is pretty intimidating, so I’m very glad for UNI. Did any of you apply for special residential housing? After reading the rooming thread, I kind of wish I put Warren Towers as my first choice, but it’d be totally ace to room with other UNI kids, so. Ahhh, decisions.

BTW, what are some of your future career/academic plans? I’m pre-med, with hopefully a concentration in social sciences (psychology, sociology, etc), and I’m nervous if UNI will be a good fit for me re: pre-med requirement classes, but. College is supposed to be unpredictable. :)

if you got into the University Proffessor’s Program…you’re the cream of the crop…you’ll become a fine doctor or whatever you wish to be… med school will not be a problem for you if you work hard… good luck with everything

I’m a CAS Honors Program Freshman with two friends in UNI. It is an awesome program. Not just brilliant kids but very interesting and talented ones too. Good luck. Oh and definitely go on BUNITE on LIVEJOURNAL and you’ll find UNI students.

Here is the UNI link. Any luck contact UNI students? Do INI students all have to live together the first year and if so, what housing?

hey Bing - i’m also doing the UNI program as a pre-med! were you at the open house?

sincere & dogs: I’ve already ■■■■■■■ the LJ community/read the uni website (haha, obsessed much, me?) and I haven’t found what percentage of uni students actually live in residential housing. either way, I’ll be meeting new people, so I’m not too worried on that front. I wish the website gave some sort of statistic on the percentage of pre-med students in the program, b/c it seems like the bulk of pre-med would probably be in CAS.

jon: no, I couldn’t make it to the open house! it’s awesome to find someone else going pre-med, too, though. =) I’m hoping to sign up for the june 21-23 open house, so maybe we’ll see each other there!

Bing - are you planning on living in the UNI brownstone?

Is UNI something you can only get into when you apply for freshmen admission or can you get into the program after you have started to take classes?

i think its only before…but i may be wrong on that…its extremely selective, so thats all i really know

No, you can transfer into UNI from another school after the freshman or sophomore year.

i applied for the uni brownstone, but from the housing thread, there seems to be no guarantee where i’ll end up. i sent in my housing survey pretty early, though.

Looks like the UNI Brownstone got a rave review on the newly posted ratemydorm site.
