University seeks Dead-head Librarian

Pardon me if someone has already brought this up…

[Archivist for the Grateful Dead Archive | University Library](http://library.ucsc.edu/about/jobs/archivist-for-the-grateful-dead-archive)

UCSC is looking for a librarian to be in charge of their Grateful Dead Archive. Good pay, great benefits, plus taking care of the collection…

Sounds like a great (grate?) job for the right person.

John Stewart make mock of this job posting on his show Wednesday night. (And incurred the wrath of archivists everywhere. The SAA–Society of American Archivists–has already sent him a letter of complaint. Also according the SAA email listserv traffic, the position has already been filled.)

A job many would (tie) dye for!

I know a fairly conservative (later in life), 50+ Phd business school dean jamming on his electric guitar in the family room as I write this who would be perfect for the job!

My son might consider quitting Medical School for this job, except he isn’t qualified for it!! Only his interest in the Dead would get him a foot in the door.

Yep, lots of great jobs out there in various library, archivist fields. Need a degree. The libraries of the future are being built now in a few communities with vision. My home town, where I grew up has a new library: http://www.lafayettelib.com/pdf/LibraryMap.pdf
