Hello, I am trying to apply for internships in the summer but one of the requirements is that I include my unofficial transcript with my application. I am slightly confused as to what is expected as my university only offers the option to have my official transcripts ordered and sent to my employer or to myself. Does simply going onto my online student profile and cutting and pasting a screenshot good enough?
Unofficial transcripts usually means that you can send a PDF or some other file of your classes, grades, and GPA that can usually be found online. It should typically contain everything that your official transcript would like contain (like your name, major, GPA, grades in individual courses, etc), but it’s “unofficial” because it’s just a printout/PDF from your school’s online website. They usually do this so that you don’t have to pay to have an official transcript sent and so it can easily be sent electronically.
In my school, it comes from the College Placement Office; I would imagine you could ask a guidance counselor for one. Each of our seniors received a copy yesterday in homeroom. It helps in filling out applications that ask you to self report things like rank in class and current GPA. It’s unofficial because it’s sent through YOU, not directly from the school.
