Unorganized program-- wasting my time

I am part of the sterile processing program at Columbus State Community College. It is not organized at all. Clinicals were supposed to start during week three. We are now going on week five with no clinicals in sight. Since our clinical time is 6:30am-1:30pm, we are forced to sit in class during those hours every day. There is next to nothing to learn, so we just flip through powerpoints for seven hours per day, two days a week. Our professor read straight from the slide. It is mind-numbing. You can only learn so much in an in-class setting when you are supposed to be in an on-site setting. Not to mention, who can sit for seven hours and have slide shows read to them? Anyone? I can’t hardly stand it. Just thinking about school makes me start to feel depressed. I have never been so bummed about life before and I really don’t know what to do about it.

So is there a coordinator or director of this sterile processing program? You should go talk to this person and maybe bring a classmate with you.

When were the clinicals supposed to start?
Were they in the syllabus?
Have you asked why the clinicals are not starting?
Do you know when they will start?
Have you asked will you be “certified” or whatever if you have no clinicals?

If you don’t get the answers you want, then talk to the head of the departments/coordinator. They may or may not know what is going on.
