Unpaid tuition bills impacting NJIT

NJIT recently sent out emails that stated that as of March 1st unpaid tuition for spring semester totaled 11 million dollars----seriously impacting their ability to operate.
1,700+ students had not paid 25%-100% of their tuition by week seven of the spring term.

What is going on here? I am sure there were many students having serious financial problems but it also seems like a generation of students who don’t think they have to pay their bills on time.

Most New Jersey state institutions cancel unpaid registrations by week three at the latest.

Not sure how financial departments work. I would guess that there are some students who pay on time and they use their money to operate or they use government money. A lot of students pay late and expect to still be able to study. I guess some schools need to enforce their rules more. Either that or the students and the finance apartment needs to negotiate on something.
