UNT vs TAMU

I’m currently a junior in high school, and although I’ve yet to apply to any college, I would be an automatic admit to UNT, and a Top 25% admit at TAMU(1300 cr+M). I’m not amazing at math, but computer science has always been my passion. I have visited both schools(TAMU more often; my brother goes there), and I’ve got to say, I feel more comfortable with the atmosphere @ UNT. I’m indecisive, though, because TAMU has a much better reputation as an engineering school, and I’m worried whether I would be able to succeed there with sub-par math skills. TAMU seems like a better fit for employment, due to it’s recognizable engineering program, but my brother has had a hard time socializing or feeling “at home” at TAMU. Which would be the better choice for me? I’m not worried as much about tuition, as my brother received a lot of financial aid and academic grants & scholarships.

My son wanted to go to UNT after his visit there. He loved the school and the atmosphere. However, he was pressured and talked into going to TAMU because of its reputation, etc. It was a huge mistake and he moved home after a year. In my opinion, trust your gut. I wish my son had gone to UNT as he wanted.
