Unusual Trends

Hey so i’m currently a second semester Junior at a US high school overseas.

Usually when people talk about trends it starts from freshman and goes up, but mine has been interesting.

My freshman GPA started off as a 3.9, with one B
second semester GPA was a 3.6 with 3 B’s

It got progressively worse and worse, going to a 3.5 in 10th semester one with 4 B’s and 4 A’s
Then in second semester 10th grade I got two C’s in French and Writing

However, the interesting thing is that now in 11th grade I got straight A’s with 4 AP courses for a 4.2 GPA
second semester is also on track for a 4.2 GPA

So How will colleges look at this? My cumulative is going to end up around 3.8, but can I apply to colleges who accept 4.0 and above students (Uni’s such as Northwestern, UCLA, Columbia)?

How will they look at the junior year bump and what kind of trend is this, since Junior year is much more important?

I will also be taking 6 AP Classes this year, and with the 4 this year and 1 last year it would be 11.

Your chances are slim. They are even slimmer compared to the many applicants to,those schools who will not have a noticeable dip in grades in their sophomore year. I would not describe your trend as unusual. You need to find schools in which your grades and test scores put you in the range of 50% and higher.
