Is there a huge difference between say a 3.98 UW gpa and a perfect 4.00?

I know it shows that you didn’t get perfect straight A’s, but is that 0.02 worth retaking a class?

thanks !

It’s highly unlikely that a .02 improvement in GPA is going to make any difference to colleges. I suppose it could make a difference if the .02 gap materially affects your class rank (assuming your school ranks). Regardless, don’t retake the class. It will make you look obsessive. Really obsessive. There are far better things to do with your time, things that may actually improve your admissions prospects.

Absolutely not. If you retake a class just because you didn’t receive an A/A+ will make you come off as grade-obsessive, almost parallel to a student retaking a 2300+ SAT, imo. If your courseload is filled with honors/aps, a 3.98 looks just as good as a 4.0.

I can’t believe you just asked that question. Of course you should retake it. Yale will never accept an applicant with a non-perfect GPA.

I had a 3.94 when I applied.
