Upcoming Birthday

My son will be entering WashU as a freshman in a couple of months. His birthday is soon after the start of classes and I would like to get him a gift certificate to take his (hopefully) new friends and roommates out to dinner to celebrate. We are new to WashU and know nothing of the surrounding area; can any of you “veterans” recommend a good, fun place nearby campus?

Thank you!

There are a couple of places on the loop (within walking distance from campus) that are popular – Fitz’s and Blueberry Hill come to mind off the top of my head. There is also the Cheesecake Factory at the Galleria, but you need to take the metro or the bus to get there.

I would add, The Melting Pot (fondue) is a real treat on the Loop and there is an Outback not too far from campus.

don’t get a gift certificate to the melting pot for a large group–$100 would feed about three people. i’d definitely recommend blueberry hill for smaller groups, or fitz’s for larger groups

Thanks to you all for the suggestions. This is very helpful.

oh also we went to PF Chang’s for a friend’s birthday, which can be cheap if people split entrees and appetizers
