My original thread discussing my frustration with D’s class participation grade has been locked at my request. I wanted to give you a quick update since I think its interesting in light of everything that was said.
My D talked with the teacher in order to find out what was lacking in her participation. It turns out it was something of a misunderstanding. The grade was actually for a writing assignment and was mis-labelled as participation online. She understands why she got that grade on that assignment and both of us feel its perfectly reasonable. She has one more assignment left which will hopefully lift her grade, but if not, not.
He actually told her that he doesn’t award any points for class participation because he feels that it disadvantages shy kids and he doesn’t want to have to obsess about who says what in class.
So, all is good in the Gallent household and again, I think everyone for the help!
