<p>Out-of-state female is the toughest group to be in because W&M is committed to 60% in-state, and tries to stay as close to 50%-50% male-female as possible considering that over 62% of applicants are female. I point that out not to discourage you, but to explain why you can never count on getting in if you are in that group (not that it is much better for OOS males).</p>
<p>I think you have a very good chance and it would be foolish to not apply if you like W&M. Your ACT is lower than “sure thing” level (if such a thing existed for OOS females) but your extracurriculars are outstanding.</p>
<p>Just as a data point - we live in Louisiana and my son started W&M this last semester. He took the ACT three times (and got 28 on the first try, 32 on the second, and 34 on the third). His extracurriculars didn’t hold a candle to yours.</p>
