<p>IMPORTANT QUESTION: I know this probably seems extremely…paranoid…but I looked at my NYU Common Application Supplement today and realized that when I copied-and-pasted my essay from Microsoft Word into the Common Application box, I had two symbols in my essay that were somehow converted to symbol-type characters. Will this negatively impact my application (since it was not technically a spelling error)? Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>yea, sseroiusly, don’t worry. they’ll probably adore your application. but just don’t get your hopes up in case you don’t get in. you never know cause there may be other people the admissions officers like better. just relax though cause you deserve to get in.</p>

<p>I’m really nervous that I might get deferred to the CGS and I really want to go to CAS. Plus, I applied early to Furman (their Early Decision is not binding though) and I’m hesitant as to whether I should accept Furman’s offer if I get in in December or wait and pray that I get accepted AND get enough money from my out of state schools like NYU.</p>

<p>If Furman is non-binding, you can always wait until you hear from NYU. Always best to have alternatives. I used my alternatives to appeal NYU’s finincial award, and got a little extra. Use all the leverage, choices you get to your advantage. Good Luck.</p>

<p>Black male at the very top of his class… Geez, stop worrying, apply to most of the top-10 school, use NYU as a safety. Sure, your SATs are not that great, but the race, class rank, and the service award will get you in most anywhere. Just cut back the list of BS ECs and you will be fine.</p>
