Updates on the Princess of Wales

Another weird photoshop. Her hand is very blurry.

That’s definitely possible and something I have done for my own family photos (fix someone’s closed eyes, etc) but I would think some skilled enough to do that wouldn’t miss the bit of Charlotte’s sweater sleeve that is missing. That’s a pretty obvious error once you zoom in.

They may want to revert to “Never complain, never explain.”

I sort of can’t believe this whole fiasco is coming out of the royal family. That we now have a future queen apologizing for poor editing skills. And a future king - not anything official - was the one who decided on a whim to use his iPhone to take a family photo, message it to Kate and then have her play with filters or whatever and post it. Is this even REAL?!!! (the situation)

From post #1 of this thread, this whole situation is just starting to reek creepy to me. I think curiosity is only heightened now.

What I think is really strange about this situation is that the AP killed the pic. Never heard of that before, especially for a casual family photo. Most pics are manipulated or “improved” so that is nothing new. I wonder what other “manipulation” they found to make the picture not credible?

AP standards:

AP’s editorial standards state that images must be accurate. AP does not use altered or digitally manipulated images.

AP’s news values and principles explain that minor photo editing, including cropping and toning and color adjustments, are acceptable when necessary for clear and accurate reproduction and should maintain the authentic nature of the photograph.

Changes in density, contrast, color and saturation levels that substantially alter the original scene are not acceptable. Backgrounds should not be digitally blurred or eliminated by burning down or by aggressive toning. The removal of “red eye” from photographs is not permissible.

AP photo requirements

Problem is they are a public family trying to have everything on their terms - they want total privacy which I respect - but then don’t send out a poorly edited photo which only creates more buzz and questions.

I do wish Kate the best in her recovery.

And then to have the princess apologize for her poorly edited photo.

Hello, they have staff! This isn’t your average person posting on Instagram. It had to be approved before it went to the press.

The royal family needs a better PR person.

It’s so crazy. And does nothing to help the already rampant speculation.

I think it was a lovely picture and feel bad for her going through all this controversy over posting a beautiful family moment on Mother’s Day. I myself know how hard it is to get a good picture for our annual family Christmas card.

Or as I say: And then for them to throw the Princess of Wales under the bus.

I do think the picture was taken this week, Louis and Charlotte look older than in the previous photo. Maybe they spliced together a few pics to make the kids look appropriate. Who knows?
I’m throwing another random thought out there. I know many were questioning the jeans being worn post-abdominal surgery, but I also wondered how she bent over and tied those boots.
I also think her face looks remarkably less puffy than the car photo from a few days ago.

Same. I wouldn’t think they’d be allowed to release any pictures or statements without it being completely vetted by their own comms people.

There are a lot of folks on the socials with way too much time on their hands, who are deep diving into this whole “where is Kate?” mystery. Someone found an old Vogue cover that Kate did and superimposed her face over the manipulated photo, and it looks exactly the same - like they pieced it together. Someone else found photos of all the clothing they are wearing in the picture from appearances that Kate & children did in the fall and are alleging that they pasted pictures in the clothing from those shots.

Regarding the “Kill Notice”, someone else who has worked for the AP said that is an extreme and rarely used notice - only done when something is really wrong and they need to backtrack, stat.

Something is very wrong here.

I totally agree with this sentiment - they threw Kate under the bus. I seriously doubt she was the one doing the editing or making the bad PR decision but it’s been decided that she should take the blame. Just part of the palaces MO. If Harry and Meghan were still around, I bet they would have leaked something damaging about Meghan to the press as a distraction ploy. Seriously, with all the money they have, one would think that they could hire a more competent PR team.

Really surprising they didn’t throw an “unnamed staffer” under the bus instead of, you know, the actual Royal they’re supposed to be protecting.
