Updates on the Princess of Wales

She didnt have 9 months chemo. She had surgery in mid jan, i think. Prob 2 weeks for final pathology to come back, plus at least total 6 weeks, to heal before starting chemo. So maybe started chemo mid march. Still, 5 to 6 months chemo is about is standard for adjuvant chemo for many cancers.

My husband had 8 months of chemo for his stage 3 colon cancer. He was told that 6 months was typical, but that since he was tolerating it so well, they wanted to give him more to increase his odds of permanent remission.

That was all finished by late 2008, so we are pretty optimistic he has beaten the beast.

Wow! That is fantastic!

Thanks, that makes more sense.

Amazing. There has been tremendous progress in treatment of advanced colon cancer. Thirty years ago, if even one lymph node was positive, it was presumed to be game over. And now, people with stage three, even people with liver metastases, are being cured. Tremendous progress.

Princess Kate looked lovely this week for Christmas festivities. She joked and looked very well. Hopefully 2025 is a happy and healthy year for her!

@bluedog23 would you consider changing the title of this thread? Every time it is updated my heart sinks, thinking it is a new hospitalization.

Happy news for her. Did we ever learn what type of cancer she had?

I realize this is very personal, but with her tremendous public presence and voice, she could help educate and raise awareness and possibly even help someone dealing with the same thing. I feel like the evasiveness of it all leads to so much speculation and puts them even more in a spotlight.

I’m happy to hear she is in remission. A wonderful new years gift to their whole family.

I hope she stays health, as well as her family. Stress is always a factor in health and living in a goldfish bowl with so many gawkers is not the healthiest environment. I guess that’s part of marrying into the royal family.

Such great news! For many, it was for me, this can be the hardest part of the journey aside from the initial diagnosis. You’re done treatments, so you can feel like nothing is battling the cancer. You wonder if some cells are still lurking.Your life revolves around cancer for so long and then it doesn’t. And a fear can settle in. At the same time, those around you are obviously so thrilled and just ready to move on, but this can be difficult. I struggled for a bit after my treatments ended - it can be lonely. I hope she can find support from other survivors.

It amazes me that people think that the end of chemo is the end of the disease.

My mom, MY MOM, has done this about my daughter.

Like my daughter has nothing to worry about anymore and that I and her dad don’t worry all the time

We don’t know what kind of cancer she had, but most cancers require follow up every x months with blood tests, scans, etc. I have a friend who had lung cancer several years ago. She says she still gets completely stressed out at every single follow up exam.

She never told what cancer she had. My feeling is she didn’t want the press constantly discussing her body, especially if it was more of a private area of her body.

But I agree, specifics might have helped a lot of people struggling with the same thing.

Keep in mind that as recently as 3 years ago, the BRF didn’t inform the public about a cancer diagnosis period. As recently as 2 generations ago, they didn’t tell the patient he had cancer. So while baby steps, for the BRF, this is the equivalent to pulling back the curtains.

If anyone has had to chance to see the pictures and videos of her going back to the hospital where she received treatment, to thank those involved in her care - it’s very heartwarming! Such a large group of people who knew what she was there for, and not a single person leaked anything. That is mad respect for their princess!
