updating info on early apps

I was recently appointed “long distance team leader” for my winter track team and I was wondering if it would be wortwhile to notify Georgetown of this. I’m certainly not good enough to be recruited for running, but it shows leadership and in my “personal” essay I used running as a metaphor for a specific area in my intended major so it shows that I’m dedicated enough to receive a leadership position. Any opinion on this would be appreciated.

go for it. they just started reviewing apps, or at least they just notified me that my file was complete, so its not like your too late or anything. at the least, notify em if you get deferred…

You’re getting notified about things? I’ve gotten nothing.

me neither =|

not to hijack stu64k’s thread or anything BUT generally-speaking, is it better to wait until you (hypothetically) get deferred to send more stuff in?

or should you try to forgo getting deferred altogether be sending extra stuff in before EA/ED decisions go out?? even this late in the game?

I would wait to be deferred because it can make admissions people mad to send in extra stuff. For example, I might send in another rec if I am deferred. Just remember this: The thicker the file, the thicker the kid. And it might also be too late to send in extra stuff. They will probably be sending out decisions letters on December 10, which is what, 15 days? oh holy crap…

yeah, i got an email. it basiaclly just asks you to verify your address, etc. and to remind you to get in touch with your interviewer if you havent yet. no one else got one??

oh, and in respone to audra, my email was dated the 22nd, which was wat, 4 days ago? so they are no where near done then.

they started looking at applications and making decisions on the 22nd, if you are deferred, send in more stuff, but other than that, wait.
I got an e-mail last week, it said the same as lights_out’s did
I haven’t been contacted my an alumni member for my interview yet, so I guess I’ll give that number a call.
if you haven’t gotten an e-mail, i would call the admissions office–it can’t hurt to check up on things.
on the other hand, i told them i was applying early, and they never got my application (by fault of my counselor) and i got an e-mail from them asking why. my guess is if they didnt get it, you’d have heard something.

haha seems odd to start work right before thanksgiving break… oh well. its kinda weird to think that they have already decided about me…

its scary to think that they’ve already decided on me, means there is no going back and there is nothing i can do to make them accept me!
oh man. 19 days until december 15th…AHHH

Oh, is that all it said? I got that email over two months ago. I’m not too worried about my application being in. I have the email from FedEx saying that it had been delivered to the front desk of the admissions office, so I doubt it got lost in the 20 or so feet it had to go to the officer.

how do you know that they already made the decision on you?

haha i don’t. but they might have if they started 4 days ago…

panda, how u know that they started lookin/makin decisions on the 22nd?

haha good question. how DO you know??

because when my counselor messed up my application and forgot to send it in, i was in EXTENSIVE contact with the dean of undergrad admissions, and i was told that they would still consider me for EA because it wasn’t my fault and that they didn’t start going over the apps until the 22nd

ohhhhh gotchya thanks for the heads up then.

no problemo, good luck!
