Updating iPad 2 Question - not 8.0

I know 8.0 is out- with all it’s issues. But I never did the last update or two, but would like to now. But when I go to “updates” it only shows 8.0. Is there a way to mp download the previous updates and not 8.0???

I always dread updating. Got screwed once when I didn’t realize I needed to back up so much. Now with the cloud on it should all be backed up there right? No need to back up to iTunes?? I checked and cloud is on and there is plenty of space.

bumping for the morning crowd. :)

Which ios is your ipad currently running?

8.0 is not the problem. It was 8.0.1 that had issues. It seems like they fixed issue and cane out with 8.0.2 this morning. I don’t know if it’s different on iPad but for iPhone, I could update without backing up again in iCloud.

Still though, 8 is making my ipad 3 VERY slow.
I wouldn’t upgrade a 2 to ios 8.

Oh, I see it runs differently for iPads. On my i5s, it runs a lot faster than ios7. The response is instant.

I really prefer not to download any 8.whatever. I believe the current version I have is 6.0.

Not sure how well the iPad2 would do with the 8.whatever.

I don’t think you can upgrade to 7 from 6.
7 came out a yr ago I think, and it also caused some problems at the time, although there were then several incremental upgrades to deal with it.

Doesn’t have to be “7” - just anything more than 6.0, less than 8.whatever.

Conversely, if anyone downloads 8.02 on their ipad2, let me know how it goes!

I have a 16G ipad2 v. IOS7 and was told I will need 7G or so of free space to download/install Ios8. The operating system takes 3G or so to download then the other 4G to install! I will wait till I get back from my trip. It ain’t broken, no need to rock the boat!

I updated today, and had to temporarily delete a bunch of apps on my 16g to free up memory. Everything seems to be running fine though.

I have an iPad Air and wad told I needed 7G to download ios8.

Question…once I install iOS 8, will I be able to put my deleted apps back on this device? I have a 32.

Thumper, I think so. I have an older iPad and had to delete a lot of stuff to update but I was able to reinstall all of it once the update was finished.

If you plug your iPad/iPhone into iTunes, you won’t need to delete things–you only have the space requirements if you’re installing via wifi

Any problems with the update on the Ipad air? I am leary to do it if there are issues…

Two months later I finally updated - got fed up last night and just clicked the update button and hoped for the best. Woke up to a fresh, newly updated iPad 2 and all seems to be in it’s proper place - why didn’t I do this before??!
