Kind of a weird list–and not to be taken seriously–given that it also ranks Michigan, Tufts, Harvard, WUStL, and Columbia as among the 10 most dangerous colleges in the country.

Really???

I wouldn’t worry too much–i.e., at all–about this one.

one thing that seems disconcerting on that list is that there were four muders at penn…is that true?

^ There weren’t 4 murders actually at Penn, or even involving Penn people, just as there weren’t 27 forcible rapes or 176 robberies at Penn. Who knows where they got these statistics, but they may be from the Philadelphia police district that includes Penn, but also includes a much, much larger area than just Penn or its University City neighborhood. You’ll see similarly alarming statistics at the other schools they list in the top 10, including Harvard, Tufts, WUStL, Michigan, etc. (click on “Previous slide” in the black bar at the top of the page).

^that’s what I figured. Just sensationalism…of course west philly is going to have crime, but I have definitely felt that university city, and especially immediately around penn’s campus, is very safe. What a stupid article.
