I applied ED without subject tests and got deferred.
Son received an invite yesterday for an interview, he’s applying rd
I applied RD and still haven’t received any notification about an alumni interview… and I don’t think it would be hard where I live necessarily to find alumni as I’m near a city (but that’s only speculation). I’m a bit concerned because I really love this school… does anyone know if they retract interviews based on apps or is it simply based off of availability?
Oops, guess I already replied to this forum about alumni interviews and forgot.
Did my interview today. Received my interview last week.
@Cly2019 How did it go? Face to face?
My D received her email about the alumni interview this past Sunday. Her interview is virtual, and it is tomorrow. We live in Chicago.
D20 had her alumni interview today. They met in a coffee shop and had a great conversation. He is also an alumni of D’s high school (graduated 10 yrs ago), so they had a lot to talk about. It was very low stress and she felt good about it.
Anyone know anyone that got a STEM based likely letter from Penn yet? Yale has issued a few this week, so curious about Penn.
messi2618, Which program did you apply to? can you share the stats? My daughter completed the application in mid December and had the alumni interview in the 1st week of December. She has not heard anything at this time.
Still. no. interview.
@benandjerrys101 Don’t worry if you haven’t received interview request yet. My DD Class of 2023, was in your shoes last year. We live in a large metropolitan with plenty of Penn alum but she had not received an interview request while almost everyone around her had already been interviewed. Her interview request came towards the end of February. She is currently a happy Freshman. Hang in there!
haven’t gotten an m&t interview yet, but im not worried bc no one else from my area has gotten an interview yet and people from my area have gotten in in past years
Question- I’m applying for nursing and got 2 interview requests, one is the alumni interview and the other is from the nursing school. Is this maybe a mix-up or are nursing majors supposed to have 2 interviews?
Finally got an interview!
About the Alumni interviews: do interviewers send detailed report back for UPenn admission committee. Or is it a just check mark and more for the candidate to know about Penn.?
I know in general, the interviews are not a make-or-break point in the process; but they at least provide an additional data point - if the interviewer sends a detailed report. For one of the college interviews (not Penn) that son attended, interviewer took extensive notes; while at another, interviewer didn’t take any notes and it was more of a free-wheeling conversation over coffee. Wondering about Penn interviews - is there any evaluative component to it?
I can say that my Daughter’s interviewer took extensive notes and said he would really enjoy writing up the report that evening, acknowledging that it might not have much impact on a decision, but from what he could tell, she’d be an excellent student there. Seemed much more evaluative than Harvard or Cornell conversations.
My S interview was in a coffee shop and not very detailed and did not take any notes. Interview was for 45 mins. My question is does every applicant have interviews (face to face or skype) or is it for a big selected group after an initial screen to weed out candidates who really cannot make it to PENN
I am an International Student and got an Interview on Saturday. It’s an Alumni Interview (obviously) and they have kept it in an official space, unlike other Universities. They also said that other applicants will be present there and have asked me to pre-register.
They claim there is no pre-screening, but I’m not convinced.
