UPENN 3rd round anyone else?

i guess our decisions will come out in june!!!
What were your stats?
It seems that (though it’s a guess),
we weren’t automatic rejects or acceptances…
what could that mean?
what were you guys’ stats?

화이팅
님하 꼭붙고 저랑같이 ㄱㄱㄱ

sigh. sucks.

ㅋㅋ쌩유 ㅠㅠ

ivy-transfer, are you in 3rd round too?

yes i am unfortunately. wharton. you?i think it’s random, not based on “auto acceptances” like they say

I’m still waiting as well. I’m not sure either. Either we’re not auto acceptances or auto rejections OR we’re all auto rejections all together. Or maybe I’m completely off…

SKG–I heard that the 3rd round is the batch of acceptees who got in based on looks. So if your moniker is accurate, you’re in good shape.

when i was at the admissions office yesterday begging for a decision so i can rule out schools i have to get back to on tuesday, they implied that there was an internal waitlist that i’m on, don’t really know what to make of it. for now, i’m assuming rejection, getting excited about where i’m in, and looking at penn as a bonus

BK, I’m adopting a similar mindset.

I was doing a bit of thinking about this the other day, and wondering whether everyone in the third batch/round would just be rejections, and it simply doesn’t make sense for this to be the case. If they were just intending on rejecting everyone who’s in the third batch, then they would’ve done so in the second round.

Therefore, I think there is reason to believe that we are on some sort of internal waitlist as BK said (meaning we weren’t auto admits, but they still kinda-maybe-sorta might want us), and that there will be, at the very least, a few acceptances come this Friday.

Look at it this way - at least we haven’t been rejected yet.

are you guys gonna send updates?

my current school’s on the quarter system, so i sent them winter quarter grades back in april, and have nothing new to send them

did you include a resume in your app?

I was thinking of sending an update last week, but I figured by now all decisions were solidified. Seems too late for ordering an updated transcript that confirms my 2nd semester 4.0, so I’ll just have to hope I made a decent enough impression with what I sent in originally. Still, even if I get rejected, at least I’m in at WUSTL.

I sent in a resume with my application…this was in February by the way. I could send in my final spring grades but they are no more impressive than my midyear grades which I sent in a while ago. I guess an update will not hurt. It might just take us off that internal wait list.

There is a certain comfort coupled with frustration in not knowing, yet. I really want to think the absolute worst(rejection);but, I can’t because of a light of hope that was initially bright and now is slowly fading away…
Oh Penn…

I sent in a resume, with a personal music recording i made, and a little photo bragbook… I printed out a Penn logo and put it on the front of the book hahaha
maybe thats what got me in…

I was in the first round of acceptances, and I did NOT send in a resume. But instead, I sent in a 2-page detailed explanation/illustration of my most important EC (research abstract, hypothesis, etc.) and a personal letter from my research adviser. Most competitive applicants can produce a homogeneous college freshman resume with bullets starting with action verbs like “implemented” or “orchestrated” –> it’s a glorified laundry list at the bare bones level. I believe demonstrating passion and commitment in one certain area is crucial.

Keep in mind, it’s also useful to round out your profile with supplementary activities in other areas (volunteer, fine arts, student govt., etc.) and show you’re a diverse/outgoing person. But it’s sufficient to just list these on the application, don’t need to repeat yourself on a resume. I’m sure adcom members appreciate brevity and clarity.

That’s very smart on your part ocho cinco. Unfortunately it may be too late for the third round applicants to do such a thing. But you never know…

Yeah you definitely don’t know! I sent in the supplementary material I was referring to in the last week of April/Early May time (just about a week or so before decisions were made). And if you’re on an internal waitlist, it’s analogous to being deferred from ED admissions or waitlisted from RD admissions. If you just do nothing, your situation won’t just magically change itself for the better. Show the adcom that you’re still actively pursuing a spot in Penn’s transfer class. Small things can make the biggest difference.

huh…and all this time I just thought we were supposed to fill out the application.

I always wondered how people managed to explain their extraordinary EC’s in 30 characters or less.

Guess I probably should have figured that out before now. Oh well.

You’re right ocho cinco. At the same time, it seems like for the third round applicants left that the opportunity train has left. With only a few days left until decisions come out it might not make a difference now. But with your situation it was early on hence it could have potentially made a difference, Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s just my two cents.
