Applied for CO 2027, got waitlisted at Penn, took a gap year to get into penn, only to get waitlisted for CO 2028 :skull:

first year applied, got WL, hard to digest.

Could you explain how the gap year works for UPenn? Thanks.

last year I think they accepted 147 studnets from the witlist out of 2000ish, honestly, we’ll wiat until mid-late may to see but the gap year went by really fast, so you’ll need to get the most out of it

@khaptaha is not describing a Penn-granted gap year (under which accepted students may request a deferral to delay their start by one year). Some people like @khaptaha may take their own “gap year,” which is waiting a year after high school to apply (or reapply) for college.

That is the most recent published(class of 2026): last year’s class (2027) is not released but word around campus was it was very few and none for SEAS because they were slightly overenrolled.

D24 waitlisted at Penn. But we’re totally good. Top 5%, 35 ACT, many APs, but probably didn’t do an interview.

Son was admitted to CAS, for biochemistry and neuroscience. It was a brutal night otherwise (2 waitlists and 6 denials). But very thankful for Penn.

S 24 admitted for chemical engineering. We are in shock, thrilled and did not expect this because he never got an interview. We kept checking the portal for an interview and it never came so we took that to be a pretty bad sign.
