UPenn Class of 2028 Waitlist Thread

nothing yet, but seems to be silence for EVERYONE

Last year a huge wave was on may 25th! So let’s see.

How did you figure that out? Tired of waiting and waiting

Last year the 25th was a thursday, and I doubt colleges will say something on a weekend, but I am really hoping upenn says something this week before it gets to june!

Someone in my school got off the WL for CAS about a week ago

do you know for what major?

Math in CAS

Do you know if he was full pay or not?

I do not believe she is low-income so probably not??

I wonder why there’s radio silence and nothing on reddit, it’s like penn is picking people one by one (and it can’t be more than around 10 ppl who have gotten off at this time) rather than taking waves of larger amounts which they historically did.

Very few got off the waitlist last year. There were no waves, based on CC and reddit. And Seas said they took none. The CDS 23-24(for students who started fall 2023 ) is not released yet; the exact WL numbers are unknown but it was very small compared to the year or two before.

Yep. I don’t even know what could possibly constitute a “wave,” considering that in the two most recent CDS reports available, they have moved fewer than 150 students off waitlists of more than 2,500 applicants.

even then, they took off 100+ applicants in the previous years
whereas this year, they can’t possibly have hit 50 yet (number is just my personal estimate)

Well
this week may be the one they’ll make the biggest move, right before June. Let’s remain hopeful.

You have zero basis for any estimate.

No, don’t. Honestly, this is not healthy. The chances of getting off the waitlist are small. Really small.

The best course is to get excited about a school that has already accepted you. You let Penn know you want to stay under consideration, now just put it out of mind. Be pleasantly surprised in the unlikely event you get off the WL, but do not spend any mindshare or lose any sleep on it.

still no movement? for 2-3 weeks its like they have taken off no one?

I’ve seen nothing here or on Reddit (or any other forum), so assuming Penn is either A) taking very few off waitlist this year, or B) still sorting. I fear it’s more likely A than B
but based on no information other than the fact that other schools in the very top tier (Cornell, Michigan, etc) have already done quite a bit with their waitlists.

I heard something, apparently they did not finish reviewing apps. This is from an email.

where did you see that? do you know what the exact wording is?
