UPenn Class of 2028 Waitlist Thread

yeah nothing and haven’t heard anything either. Apparently last year they sent stuff on May 20 so it might happen around then

Yeah… let’s hope for the best and maybe next week we get the responses.

Hello, I have not heard anything new about Penn WL this week. Harvard, on the other hand, released their WL results this week and closed the WL. I am afraid Penn might have taken the amount of WL students they needed last week or this week ( ones we did not hear about ). I just hope there is a free space for more students to get off the WL in the upcoming weeks.

Well then, if thats the case, we will all have to go to our other ivy/t20/school (whichever) we committed to. But it’s ok! Being waitlisted was somewhat an achievement in and of itself. It means we were qualified  #notrejected

You’re right!! But in my case this WL represents my only opportunity to study abroad since I didn’t get any other offer of admission. I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and anxious these last weeks. Still hoping for the best though.

Oh I see, good luck then! Today I saw a video from that college counselor guy on tiktok that says there is def still a chance for ppl to get off Penn’s waitlist. We just don’t know when and how many which can be somewhat stressful!

Did anyone call the AO and ask if they plan to take students out of the WL in the next weeks?

This is hopeful and equally stressful. On WL for 4 colleges but so far, no luck.

You described it perfectly, good luck for ur other ones as well!

Can anyone call to ask about how much movement we should expect to see in the waitlist? Are they done taking people off? Also, why haven’t we heard any sort of communication or follow up email from them? TY

agreed- there’s been radio silence about the waitlists. I’m not sure if they are done and WHEN they plan to release any more. has anyone been able to hear from admissions office on this?

Penn will send out an email when they close out all waitlist activity. That message is typically released by the end of June.

You are not going to get any declarative answers to questions about WL activity by calling admissions. They have an unranked WL, and if they learn they are losing an enrollment, they will go to the WL to identify someone who meets an institutional priority represented by that student who declined to enroll. They are preserving their options, that is all.

Do not fret over this. Focus on what you can control. The healthiest thing is to get motivated by an acceptance you have in hand and be prepared to go to that school. Some people get lucky, but the odds of getting off of Penn’s waitlist are tiny. Put it in perspective and out of mind. Be surprised if you beat the odds, but really just step away from the worry, speculation, and this thread.

It’s strange because statistically the odds of getting off Penn’s waitlist is similar to getting off cornell’s and we have heard much more abt cornell’s waitlist and hardly anything from Penn. In fact, it sounds as if they only took around 10 people off. This is very strange as they usually take 100+, but I agree that they won’t reveal anything through a phone call. My reasonable assumption is that if they do take anyone off, it will be by the end of this week.

this exactly- i understand getting off a waitlist is rare, but i agree that the fact that penn has barely taken a dozen off when they have a history of taking 100+ off is odd. hopefully there will be an update this week!

Normally I am an optimistic Person but unfortunately I believe it is over. I had a 4.0, a 1540 SAT, Great EC’S international( Full Pay) and got rejected/waitlisted from all the colleges I applied to. I am sure all of you guys had amazing stats and ec’s as well. I am frustrated because it feels as though all the hardwork I put in was not worth it. I do not know what to do, and I have been reading comments on this forum for the past month or so, but oficially I give up. This dream perhaphs was not meant for me. I do not what I will do but I know that God has a better plan for all of us. Wish you the absolute best guys.

Guys, we really need someone to contact the AOS if anyone is domestic can they call them and see if they plan to take more on the WL, the wait is stressful!!

They will notify all applicants on the waitlist by email when they are done. Pending that email, the list is open. Calling Penn Admissions will not yield any answers on when (or how many) offers of admission will emerge from the waitlist.
