Hey everyone! I have been obsessively stalking this thread since last week so I decided to join the group of stalkers turned posters. It’s really cool to see how supportive everyone on here is and I hope we all get in! 
I also have a final tomorrow that I haven’t studied for nearly enough. RIP grades hello stressing about Penn!

@aqua02 honestly me too I have so many exams this week that I’ve kinda given up on studying and am stressing and binge watching Netflix instead: priorities!

I applied as an undeclared engineering student. I’m mostly worried about getting my hopes up and then getting crushed by a rejection letter instead of getting accepted. Just this weekend, I had a similar experience but it worked out. I had auditions for district band and if you don’t play an instrument, let me just tell you that auditions are stressful af. When I got my score, it was 14 points lower than what I had gotten last year. I quickly managed my expectations because the chances of them accepting enough tubas to include me was quite slim. Last year they took 6 tubas to district band and I somehow managed 4th chair. With my score I figured that I would be seated around 8th chair and didn’t really have a chance. I was crushed and when I got home, I spent the rest of the day in bed until I got my results. I have been practicing for months without a lesson teacher, just like I did last year, and expected so much more of myself. I was right about being 8th chair but this year they decided to take 8 tubas instead of just 6! I barely snuck in and now I have an opportunity to move up at the reaudition in February. Sorry about the kinda braggy rant but basically, I’m comparing the fact that I had a pretty crappy audition to the fact that my application, and the way many of you feel about your own applications, is below average at best. It seems that things tend to work out if they are meant to.

Clarinet! I ultimately didn’t get SEMSBA or MSSSA band which are two district bands, and I didn’t get district chorus either! Tuba is so cool I wish I could play @ItsAMeLuigi

@sajeunesse I really wish I could play bass clarinet. The sound of those is just uughhgkaps. The last two years, I’ve gotten in based on dumb luck lol. last year the judges were easy to please and this year they took more tubas than usual. Also my school’s band program basically breeds band geeks. We have people in first or second chair in nearly every section.

@ItsAMeLuigi cool! We have a lot of band geeks too but it isn’t crazy. Our bands are too tiny to even have a marching band and our pep band is so lame its probably ten people. We march at the town parade in the spring and i haaaatteee it.
We have some people going to summer programs and doing stuff at New England Conservatory but nothing crazy either, that’s cool you have people passionate about music!
